Psychosocial Work Environment: 1500629

After reading the article, “Psychosocial Issue among office Workers: A Case Study ay a Public Higher Educational Institute in Malaysia”, by Sukadarin, et.al (2016), I have found out that the psychosocial factors such as the mental health issues or stress due to workload exist in every organization. It is rather the responsibility of the employees themselves, and their own discretion to prevent the stress and the problems, by having proper cordial relation in the workplace and also by working as per their schedule and demand in the organization. As per the statement of the article, it is important for me to make some changes to my work life balance since that is the only thing that can keep me away from my work life stress.  The employee sin the Institute of Malaysia , in the case study have a good relationship with the management and they are supplied with all the necessary equipments for their work. Thus it becomes easier for them to maintain a proper balance, as well as maintain the work load, by working for long hours once a week. Thus this can be brought in personal life as well so that the life can improve in its quality. The other article “Work and Sleep – A Prospective Study of Psychosocial Work Factors, Physical Work Factors and Work scheduling” written by Akerstedt, et.al (2013) deals with the fact that there is a significant amount of relationship and linkage between the work characteristics and the disturbed sleep. With almost 4827 participants, the research ahs aimed to come into the conclusions that the amount of work done by the humans is related to their sleep characteristics. The disturbed sleep that a man gets is directly proportional to his greater amount of work. Disturbed sleep can result in greater amount of stress, and also less of social support. The sleep disturbances are greater with the psychosocial work situations, and not the characteristics of work such as the shift hours, or the overtime work that a person does. Thus from this article, I also learnt that importance needs to be given to every aspect of the life. Disturbed sleep often affects the work, and also the mental development. Thus sleep is evry necessary and it should not be compromised with anything. Lastly, in another article. “Work Related Stress in the Banking Sector: A Review of Incidence, Correlated Factors, and Major Consequences”, Giorgi, et.la (2017), discusses that the banking sector as well as the other organizations have undergone huge changes. New technologies and new ways of managing the process the employment conditions and everyday lives of workers have left their mark. Privatization, with constant shifts in employment and conditions of employment, labor markets, emerging technology and new forms of jobs have dramatically reshaped working lives. Stress is thus at its peak in this banking sector and it eventually has its dangerous effects upon the workers working in this sector. In most of the researches, it is shown that the workers who are employed in the banks suffer from physical ailments, and also mental health issues, such as the anxiety and depression. Thus the study suggests that there should be further researches on this topic since the occupational stress has reached to its higher levels and have affected the social well being of all the bankers. Researches should be done, so that this can be reduced and actions can be taken against such organizations, which exert pressure on the people working in the same sector, there should be changes in the levels of working too, so that the physical health problems can be minimized.
