Personal Development: 1483869

Introduction

The personal development plan is about my personal goals of improving my career from my current position as a worker to a position of managing director in the company.  The personal development plan can help me to improve the qualities that I have within myself and help me to make my dreams into a reality. I believe that a person has limitless potential and a personal development plan can be helpful in harnessing my talents.

Step 1

I am committed to creating a flourishing career for myself.  I want to work harder to fulfil my ambitions. I am new to the work areas and I believe that I need to work hard and better to improve my position. This is important to develop my career so that I can achieve better goals in the future.  I need to be aware of the areas where I can excel in and focus in those areas meticulously which can help me to improve my position and also get better opportunities (Beausaert et al. 2015).

My ultimate target is to secure a managerial position in a company and ultimately act as a director in my own company. This is a big goal that I want to achieve in the future.

I believe that working hard and being focused on the goal can make me achieve it.  Having a clear idea of my skills and my abilities can help me to develop them further.  I believe that understanding my strengths and weakness will help me to reach my goal. I need to turn my weakness into strengths and improve those further. This can be useful in achieving my desired career goal.  I believe that I need to learn from my failures than I am facing currently so that I can avoid them in the future. I also need to view the way a manager or a director of a company runs things in an organization so that I can incorporate some of the things later (Gould, 2017).

Step 2

I am currently working as a floor worker in a fashion store. I am in this position for the past six months.

I am fairly efficient in my work. I am calm and composed during rush hours and can meet the demands of the customers by presenting them items according to their demands. I can abide by the rules that are set by the store manager. I have been rewarded due to my performance in the store. In the absence of my floor manager, I also had kept records of the sale of the store which was applauded by the store manager.

Step 3

For closing the gap between where I am now and my commitment in the future, I need to be focused on the goal and work hard to achieve it. I need to learn from many people in my path and improve my strengths (Tang, 2018).

SMART method

Specific- I want to become the director of my fashion store in the future.

Measurable- I can be capable of doing it if I gain enough achievement and enough experience of how to run my own store. This can be possible if I concentrate on my current role and grow in my way.  If I can manage my current store I am working in then it can be made sure that I have the ability to be a director of my store (Khan et al. 2015).

Achievable- this goal can be achieved by me and it is in my power to accomplish it. I need to understand the steps that are required to successfully run a company. I can take courses in career planning so that I can be better at running the stores and have the knowledge of how to run my own business (McKenzie et al. 2017).

Realistic- the goal can be realistically achieved. The goal is to run my own company and I think it is possible to achieve my goal. For this, I must develop the qualities that a manager or a director has and have the monetary capacity to grow my business (Lindman et al. 2015).

Timely- I believe that it can take me some years to achieve my goal. As I am currently working as a store worker, I do not have all the qualities that a director requires. I need to develop these and also improve my strengths. I believe that it can take me 5-6 years to achieve my goal. However, this can be possible if I am determined and focused on accomplishing the goal.
