1. Description

The presentation was successfully made by each team member, and it is certain that the success was achieved due to cooperation and support of each team member. Specific tasks were shared amongst the members of my team (Hampton, 2010) as, Marijana concentrated on introduction, Ahmed focused on the causes of stress, Linda focussed on how to overcome stress and finally Adela presented on motivation and contingency plan. Initially however the tasks were not seen equally difficult by all the team members, therefore the cooperation amongst the team was at risk due to this perception of unfairness (Maughan & Webb, 2001). Later, each member focussed on their parts and presented it efficaciously. The presentation was learning for the team as we learnt how work effectively in a group and managing things to meet stipulated deadline. My role in the presentation was to examine the effects of stress to unearth the various factors affecting employees at work in performing effectively and efficiently.

2.   Interpretation

Our presentation was on the research done by the team on the “case study: on stress and its effect on the workplace and solution for stress such social activities and motivation”. To bring efficacy in working and performing the presentation, the tasks were divided amongst the group members. For me, the most important aspect of the research was the division of tasks and roles amongst the team, which was necessary for accomplishing the work proficiently in the stipulated time frame that is why the roles were assigned on the basis of expert suggestions by (White, 1995). The most significant learning arose when we were required to identify each member’s strengths and weaknesses for assigning roles accordingly; it was an experience to work with a team and understanding your team members and work accordingly. As mentioned by (Kelly, 2009), that when project elements are not done in time, there are high chances of missing the ultimate deadline. Subsequently, the assigning of roles to each member was the major issue we faced and we took excess time in assigning roles, as a result we could have failed in meeting the given deadline. Here, I realised that we lacked cooperation and coordination amongst the team, and each member had their own views, and there was enough pressure on us to finish the work on the given. This is where I was actually able to feel my topic that is stress and its effects on employees.

Then I realised the importance of my team, as we were able to complete the project on time, only because of them, and it would not be possible to wind up the work on time in their absence, as I am having problems in expressing my ideas due to language barrier, and the team helped me in building up my confidence level. I also realised that working in a group also saved lot of time as if I had to do the complete presentation all alone it would have been very difficult and time consuming too. As stated by (Jain, et al., 2010) that teamwork helps in saving time when carrying out research on the assignment. Perhaps being in a group gave us the opportunity to divide ourselves into tasks, in which each one was allocated with the task of conducting research about it. Mariana worked on a case study and stress, Linda on how to overcome the stress, Adela on motivation while I performed on the causes of stress. This made our research very smooth and easy thereby saved enough time which would have otherwise been wasted were it that the project was to be carried out by a single person (Heery & Noon, 2001). Though, initially I was scared of the presentation due to my past experiences but my teams members encouraged me and helped me in presenting the research work and as a result we were successful in our group task.

3.   Outcome

Ultimately, our group achieved a successful outcome out of our joint efforts. Although my past experiences on presentations were not so fruitful, but this one build up my confidence and would help in giving more successful presentations. My feelings about this presentation are marvellous since it gave us a lot of experience of using the group to present our ideas in the best possible way. It was a learning experience of working together and applying cooperation and coordination in the job. Every member in the team contributed their best, and as result we were able to give the presentation on time and with all the necessary research information. This helped in developing my skills in working on presentations. Having applied team work I understood how useful it could be in saving time and extra efforts. Additionally, this presentation also helped in understanding how to work in stress and also I significantly developed my knowledge of working in a team and understanding team members.

This knowledge and understanding will be useful for me in my future endeavors. This skill of working in a team will help me as a management practitioner. Because I am not yet confident about my presentation skills, so I need to work more on it to enhance it.
