Why do I want to take a course in BSc Information Technology?
Somebody has rightly said that the world is not changed by revolutions; it is changed in laboratories. Information technology is a manifestation of this. It has revolutionized the world. The rise of the knowledge economy has been greatly precipitated by information technology. I want to pursue graduation in information technology because I am naturally interested in it. I want to have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the intricacies of this evolving technology. This will enable me to become part of the knowledge economy and make a positive contribution to the society through it. From a purely professional point of view, the choice of BSc in information technology seems to be the right one. Information technology is a sunrise sector. There are ample job opportunities in this sector. Besides the Information technology and software companies, every company needs the services of informational technology professionals. The salaries in this sector are very good. There are ample opportunities for professional growth. These opportunities motivate me to pursue a career in this sector. A graduation degree in information technology will give me the initial breakthrough in this sector. I would not get that kind of breakthrough if I pursue my graduation in any other sector.
My educational background and work experience:
I hold an advanced diploma in Computer Network Engineering. So BSc. in Information Technology seems to be the natural course to follow. Since 2004 I have been working as a network administrator in a company. I now seek to move to the managerial level. A Bsc. degree in informational technology will also make me eligible and competent for managerial positions. My knowledge and understanding of information technology make me capable to pursue BSc. Degree successfully. I have clear knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of this technology. Without clear understanding of fundamentals one cannot pursue a graduation degree in information technology successfully.
My work experience in this sector has given me practical understanding of information technology. So I possess both practical and theoretical base in information technology. A graduation course will hone this base further and will add to my intellectual and practical capabilities in information technology. That will make me a very competent IT worker.
My Career plans and educational goals:
For the past seven years I have been working as network administrator in a company. My objective over the next five years is to move up the hierarchal ladder and get employed as IT manager. In the long run my objective is to have a fruitful career in this sector which may at its best culminate in my retiring as chief information technology officer of a major corporation.
My educational goal is to at least get a master’s degree in information technology. After getting my BSc degree I intend to pursue MSc. in Information Technology Management. Without a BSc degree I will not be able to achieve this educational goal of mine; I will not be able to realize my potential.
My capabilities and competencies:
I enjoy a technological bent of mind. Since my early years the workings of technology has attracted me. I can give the academic rigor needed for going through a graduation course in information technology.
My language speaking and writing capabilities are reasonably good. Fluency in the language of medium of the course will ensure that I am able to easily understand and grasp the concepts of the course.
I have already worked for eight years as a Network administrator. This is the right time for me to pursue my graduation in information technology. I will be able to develop information technology as my area of core competency by pursuing this course. This will enable me to give wings to my dreams in future.
I fulfill all the eligibility requirements needed for getting admission in this course. I possess three years Advanced Diploma in Computer Network Engineering. If I pursue BSc in Information Technology, I will be able to fully understand all the aspects of information technology. My eight years of work experience in this sector makes me additionally eligible and competent for getting admission in this course.
As somebody, who already has a good deal of work experience, I possess the discipline needed for fruitfully pursuing an academic course of this caliber. I come from a decent social and familial background. There is not any blemish in my past record. I have never been involved in any unlawful activity and there are no pending lawsuits against me in any courts. As a member of the community in which I live, I enjoy good rapport with my peers. I am a good team worker who enjoys cooperating with others.
I have a strong ethical value system which guides me in every decision and action of life. Ethics comes before everything else in both my professional and personal life. A society and civilization cannot be sustained without ethics. Means, for me, are more important than the ends; only the right means can lead to the right ends.
I seek all round 360 degree growth so that I fully realize my potential and live a creative, fruitful life. This is not possible without the right education. Admission into this prestigious institute will give me the kind of education that I need for realizing my potential. It will open new doors for me in future and will provide me with an avenue of opportunities.
