Health and Social Care Management: 1345913

Introduction

The main aim of this paper will be to the process of change that will lead to support the overall change process within Alliance Healthcare, which is a business corporation that operates in the overall European market place and is engaged in the distribution, wholesales and retailing of medical, pharmaceutical, surgical and other products related to the social and healthcare sector. A strategic plan will be developed in this context for implementation of change along with proper justifications for the same and evaluation of different models, theories and concepts. The issues that has arouse within the organizational culture and the business operations that lead to the process of change will also be discussed, so that the strategic plan for implementation of change can be designed accordingly.

About the Organization

Initially known as Alliance UniChem, the Alliance Healthcare is an organization that deals in the distribution, wholesales and retailing of medical, pharmaceutical, surgical and other healthcare products all across Europe. Over 110000 doctors, pharmacies, hospitals and health centers from more than 288 distribution spots in eleven nations are supplied by the company. It has secured one of the leading positions in this field in the marketplace of the United Kingdom. They have the experience of over eighty years in offering world class service. Not only the organization possess a wide range of products but also, they excel in accuracy, reliable delivery and frequency. The customers have become increasingly dependent on Alliance UniChem due to its competitive pricing strategy. The company’s purpose is to provide a better, happier and healthier lifestyle to residents of United Kingdom. At the same time, they aim at being the partner of choice to deliver services related to wellbeing and health all over the market of the United Kingdom (Alliance-healthcare.co.uk 2020).

Reasons for Change

The first challenge faced by Alliance UniChem is the change of hardware and software dynamics in the current technical scenario. The different types of software media used in healthcare are getting powered and advanced with technical progressions. For harnessing the potential of healthcare technology so that the health system can be transformed and a connected environment can be developed, healthcare providers need to build ties with software application companies and medical manufacturers. Another problem is related to the lack of advancement opportunities. More than half of the population of healthcare providers have significantly reported this problem that poses a serious threat in their present positions. A recent survey on healthcare providers have proven this fact. Many of the healthcare providers lack data management systems and advanced architecture so that the data gathered from multiple resources can be managed (Healthcare Success 2020). The problem arises due to the usage of rational databases that are incapable of efficient management of unstructured data taken from numerous sources, i.e. the absolute value of information is not received. Another major challenge is the cost crisis due to the conflict occurred among so many stakeholders who are involved. This growth in the costs directly affect the revenues of organizations that deal with healthcare, because the increased prices may discourage a patient in several ways, whether taking lab tests or doing regular check-ups, ultimately leading to poor outcomes of that patient. The rise in the pharmaceutical prices is also regarded as a major challenge faced by healthcare providers as well as the patients. This happens since there is no one to check or determine the drug prices in the market (Professor Eng. Victor Lorin Purcarea 2020). Alliance UniChem is also affected by regulatory challenges in two ways: the first one being the rising cost of services and second is the confusion created among general public, as it is not addressed in a proper and precise method. Shortage of staffing is faced as well by this organization every year. To resolve this issue, professional development should be done on a regular basis and the infrastructure must be improved, and these can help in big ways (Alliance-healthcare.co.uk 2020). Trusting, accepting, and utilizing the support of caring others during attempts to change the problem behavior between the stakeholders has been affected and need to be improved so that the interests of all the stakeholders are safeguarded.

It can be stated in this context that rapid development in the area of technology has forced the management of various business corporations across the world to alter their overall business operations along with making necessary organizational changes within the companies to implement those changes in their business operations. These alterations have helped these business houses to sustain in this highly global competitive market and possess the strength to compete in with other business entities from the same business industry (Free et al. 2013). It can be noted that social and healthcare is one of the most important sector that operates across the world, and is regarded as one of the emergency service providers in global market place. Though most of the alterations within the organizations failed to view the success, yet the management and the decision making persons have engaged themselves to design strategies that will lead to changes within the internal operations of the companies, so that it may match the alterations and recent trends that are happening in the modern social and healthcare sector (Gandomani et al. 2013). The needs and requirements of treating the diseases has also changed due to development in the field of technology, where new and innovative ways and systems are getting used by the employees who are associated with this industry. But, advancements have adverse effects also, and the same has been faced by the business corporations like Alliance Healthcare, and to cope up with all these situations and challenges, a strategic plan need to be developed by the higher authority of this company to overcome these challenges and perform a sustainable business operation in the market places where they offer their products and services (Rojas et al. 2016).

Importance of Changes

The main importance of change for all the employees of Alliance Healthcare is to possess superiority in the operations that this organization is doing in the market places that has been discussed earlier in this paper. It has already been discussed that healthcare is one of the most important sector which is also regarded as an emergency one. Prompt decisions and actions plays an integral part in this sector and need to be taken to cure the patients (Flottorp et al. 2013). Healthcare sector has become a part and parcel of the daily life of the people in this modern era, where people are looking for various activities and ways to remain fit. Increase in revenue earning along with reduction of costs is yet another important factor for which the companies which are operating in this particular sector are looking for required internal changes, so that both the internal and external stakeholders of this industry will be benefitted through the change that will be implemented within the operations of the social and healthcare sector. Another important factor for which the changes are required is increase the efficiency level. In this context, it can be stated that the world is currently going through a pandemic which has been caused by the Coronavirus, which has taken the life of lakhs of people and has affected almost a crore (BBC News 2020). Through this, it can be noted that efficiency level of the healthcare sector is very important and it need to be increase to face this challenge and overcome it. The life of the people can only be safeguarded through providing better healthcare services and curing the most number of people possible in this global pandemic situation. Quality of products and services is another important factor which can be stated in this case, and efficient services will automatically improve the overall quality of the services that are provided by the employees of different companies who are associated with this social and healthcare sector. Upgrading the society with better healthcare facilities are the main focus of organizations like Alliance Healthcare, but to do so, they have to face certain challenges or issues that has already been discussed earlier in this paper. An efficient strategic plan will help the people who are associated with this sector, and will increase the power or strength to overcome the issues that has been faced by this organization which is based in Turkey and offer their products in the market places of Netherlands, France, Czech Republic, Romania, Egypt, Norway, Russia, Lithuania, the United Kingdom and Spain along with Turkey (Alliance-healthcare.co.uk 2020).

Strategic Plan

A strategic plan will help the management of Alliance Healthcare to overcome the issues that has been discussed earlier in this paper, so that efficient services can be provided to them. Clarity as well as improved servicers will help to cure the people from this pandemic situation, and for these reasons, it is important to develop an effective strategic plan by the decision taking authority of this company which is from Turkey. More than half of the population of healthcare providers have significantly reported this problem that poses a serious threat in their present positions. It can be noted that social and healthcare is one of the most important sector that operates across the world, and is regarded as one of the emergency service providers in global market place (Membrillo 2020). The problem arises due to the usage of rational databases that are incapable of efficient management of unstructured data taken from numerous sources, which is the absolute value of information is not received. For harnessing the potential of healthcare technology so that the health system can be transformed and a connected environment can be developed, healthcare providers need to build ties with software application companies and medical manufacturers (Langley et al. 2013).

The change theory of Kurt Lewin will be used here to develop the strategic plan for the organization of Alliance Healthcare (Pioneernetwork.net 2020). In the very first step, which is unfreezing, the requirement for the changes need to be analysed by the higher authority and decision making people of this company. This will help to prepare all the employees who are associated with this company for the change process within a set deadline, so that the importance of change will also be understood by them (Vahdat et al. 2014). A timeline will be followed to establish the urgency for the change which is going to be implemented within this company. In the second step, which is the change, where the new mission for this organization needs to be set and will be circulated among the employees, so that they will be able to feel the importance of changing the mission of Alliance Healthcare. Proper and effective communication need to be maintained among all the employees associated with this company, so that the effectiveness of the new objectives of Alliance Healthcare can be better understood. The change process will be supported along with encouraging the employees for manufacturing and offering the products that this business corporation is doing for years. It can be noted that the effectiveness of this process of change can only be measured through offering better products in the market places and curing the diseases like Coronavirus (Who.int 2020). The last step, which is refreezing, stability for the process of change within the organization need to be maintained strictly and not a single thing that has been followed before the change process will be entertained in the current business operations. The employees need to accept the changes that has taken place within Alliance Healthcare, and it can be noted that this stage will take time as all the doubts regarding the change need to be cleared once and for all (Johnson and May 2015).

Conclusion

From all the above discussion, it can be concluded that the overall process of change within the organization of Alliance Healthcare is required to overcome all the issues that has been discussed in this paper, and for which a strategic plan has been developed in this context which needs to be implemented within the organization of Alliance Healthcare. The strategic plan will help the employees to focus on the particular areas so that better products can be offered to the people in all the market places where this Turkish company operates apart from will help to gain the strength and competitiveness through their superiority in the products offered. The strategic plan need to be implemented within the organizational culture, so that all the employees will remain focus towards the set mission and vision and perform accordingly to safeguard the mankind along with their future generation.
