Project 10: Access Control Models and Windows 7
Windows 7 is a popular operating system from Microsoft. It has lots of functions and features. The features related to access control service are as given below,
1 User Access Control
To improve the security of Windows 7 Microsoft has limited the application programs. The application programs needs administrator authorization before making any changes to the system. It has been done to ensure authorization of only trusted application other than malwares etc. The application running by a user cannot inherit the access control of the user even if the user is the administrator. The user need to authorize the execution of the application explicitly.
An example of user access control in Windows 7 is given below. (Microsoft, 2014)
2 Folder Access Control
Windows 7 has six standard file/folder access permissions. Those are,
- Full Control
- Modify
- Read & Execute
- List Folder Contents
- Read
- Write
An example of folder access controls for a folder is given as,
