Assessment Summary

Read all the instructions below before attempting the assessment task. Assessment tasks are tools used to determine if you have the knowledge and skills to complete tasks to industry standards within the workplace. Your trainer/assessor will help you throughout this task and it is your responsibility to provide enough evidence to justify a competent decision by the trainer/assessor. If you do not understand the questions or what is required, ask your trainer/assessor for assistance. For group assessments, all students are to contribute to the assessment tasks. You are allowed to work in groups up to a maximum of four people. You are to complete all tasks by the due date and assessments must have a coversheet attached. If you think you do not have enough time to complete the tasks by the due date, discuss with the trainer/assessor the reasons of why you cannot submit on time.

Writing your responses

When answering questions, ensure that your answers are detailed enough to so the assessor can draw a conclusion that you have the knowledge and/or skills to demonstrate competency. Handwritten answers must be written in blue or black pen. When producing reports, ensure that your project has a title page, table of contents, page numbers, reference list, ensuring that your answers thoroughly match the questions asked. Answer all questions in your own words to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is copying someone else’s work or ideas and saying that it your own work. Sources of work must be properly referenced, outlining the source of your ideas. Penalties may include having to resubmit the assessment task again, repeating the Unit of competency, or for repeat plagiarism, expulsion from Abbey Business College.

Marking of Assessments

On submission of your assessment will be marked for a result of either Satisfactory (S) or Not Yet Satisfactory (NYS). If you receive a NYS result, you will be asked to redo the tasks again. To achieve a competent result with this unit, all tasks need to be completed and marked as satisfactory. Your trainer/assessor will provide feedback to you on each task, outlining where you must improve to achieve a Satisfactory (S) result. When all tasks are marked as Satisfactory (S), you will receive a result of Competent (C) for this unit otherwise, you will be marked Not Yet Competent (NYC). Assessments submitted to the trainer/assessor after the due date may not be accepted, and you may have to a resubmission fee.

Unit of competency application

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research and critically evaluate global design trends.

The focus is on research and analysis of information and ideas at a complex level, plus the evaluation and

extension of the individual’s professional skills.

It applies to individuals who need to maintain a current and comprehensive knowledge of global design trends to inform their own professional practice. Although predominantly for designers, this unit may also be relevant to those who work in related management, marketing and production areas.

What happens if your result is ‘Not Yet Competent’ for one or more assessment tasks?

The assessment process is designed to answer the question “has the participant satisfactorily demonstrated competence yet?” If the answer is “Not yet”, then we work with you to see how we can get there.

In the case that one or more of your assessments has been marked ‘NYC’, your Trainer will provide you with the necessary feedback and guidance, in order for you to resubmit/redo your assessment task(s).

    • How do you distinguish between qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and options? Mention ten (10) differences.

 Qualitative MethodsQuantitative Methods
This is the method of inquiring about the development of human and social sciences to understand the most effective way that the people considerably feel. This is generated through numerical data and statistic facts in terms of providing a more practical and efficient approach.
This is essentially a holistic approach. It is essentially a particularistic approach.
This research relies upon the exploratory type of research. This research depends upon the conclusive type of research.
This is more process-oriented.This is more result oriented.
Its main objective is to explore and discover the ideas in the entire ongoing procedure. This follows the procedural activities to evaluate the cause and effect relationships.
It helps developing initial understandings. This recommends final course of activity.
The data that is utilized in this procedure is verbal data. The data, that is used here is the measurable data.
It follows inductive reasoning approach. It follows a deductive reasoning approach.
The elements those are analyzed in this procedure is words, pictures or objects. The elements those are analyzed in this procedure are specifically numerical data.
This usually follows the non-structured techniques along with an in depth analysis through interviews, group discussions and so on.These use the numerical data in terms of surveys, questionnaire and detailed observations.
  1. Explain with an example why is it necessary to compare, contract and understand research methodologies and options before using them? Answer using 150-300 words.

Research approaches are procedures that assists in making broadened consumption in terms of assuming detailed method regarding data collection, analysis along with interpretations. This distinction between diverse research method, it is quite vital along with  effective in terms of understanding the efficiency of each trend. The research trends and methodologies need to be selected depending upon the case scenario upon which the efficiency of the organization needs to be assessed. Whether it is more of a philosophical or a practical or numerical approach that can be determined by the research methods and models. The qualitative research is the specific approach that provides the organization with the capability to engage in the enquiry support to ascertain the honors of inductive style and approach involving a focus on individual meaning along with the added complexity of the situation specific scenario. Quantitative research on the other hand, is more of a practical approach in testing the objective of the specific case or situations in terms of evaluating the relationship among the variables to a great extent. As a juxtaposed scenario to the qualitative research, it is quite significant to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the generalization as well as replication of the theories in terms of engaging in statistical procedure. The mixed method finally integrates these two forms into an unified approach of evaluation where the theoretical framework is added with the quantitative module to ascertain the relevance of the research at its best.

Thus, these three specific methods need to be observed with high-end priority in terms of relating this to effective decision making and profitable forecast or organizational predictions.

These are specifically the research types that help in addressing the direct marketing opportunities for the specific service providers. On the other hand, the informal research methodologies include the concentration of a specified focus group that are more prone to purchase competitive product. The digital marketing options in terms of email marketing or verbal survey can also be the informal types of  methodology.   Whereas the formal research methodologies essentially follow a specific discipline, the informal research tend to be less organized and system specific. Th formal research usually follow a documented pattern that has more of an authentic source to address researchers’ expectation and satisfactory mitigation.; the informal methodology is prone to be more personal growth oriented and the purpose might only be for personal knowledge gaining.  To this end, these two methodologies can be evidently viewed as juxtaposed to each other and still provide their specific contribution to the extent of increasing research capabilities for global design trends (Schoonenboom and Johnson 2017).
Explain how your research included international and domestic sources. (100-150 words)
This research in fact, includes the domestic and international sources in terms of secondary research methodologies that have been accessed through books, peer reviewed journals and articles along with having a set of primary data by interviewing the domestic respondents. This also has included the convenience of  the policy and procedures that have potentially opened up the scope for a detailed research. The mobile business that has been assessed in terms of potential market research, provides the opportunity to operate in both the international as well as domestic levels through the specific service providers (Chun, Birks and Francis 2019. The feedback generated post purchase both in the online and offline platform along with the social media intervention, it is quite obvious that they will remain consistent in terms of increased consumer bases with potential service offerings.

1b. Research the chosen global design trends and issues using the two (2) formal and two (2) informal research methodologies and/or options as identified in the point above.
Using the information collected as part of 1a, conduct the research on your chosen design trends and identify which method/option you will be using and provide an explanation of why you have chosen this method/option. (50-100 words)
From the technological advancement perspective along with the sustainability aspect for mobile industry in terms of promoting consistency has helped the specific market service providers the opportunity to depend more on the informal research methodologies that have enhanced the option of effective data tracking and finding out the daily life events of an individual with the advent of technology at hand. Therefore, in this case, the formal strategy will be a better selective than that of informal one (Choi and Jang 2019).   The method of home used data tracking has been one of the major options to certify the relevance of the same in terms of increased usability and sustenance. Despite being informal, this strategy is proven to be more effective in determining the global trends of mobile marketing (De Block and Vis 2019).
1c. Using two (2) new and alternative sources, further research these emerging and innovative design trends.
Identify two (2) new and alternative sources that you have not used before and provide a brief explanation of these. (50-100 words)
Two alternative sources to the same can be the designing of the question types through which feedback can be potentially generated and the option for the annual report for several mobile marketing companies. The first source is the primary one that denotes direct interaction with the consumers in terms of generating high end profitability. The other source for the same is the formal methodology of email marketing that help the marketer to find and understand consumer necessities to a great extent (Kelley-Quon 2018).
1d. Evaluate the credibility of the information gathered by completing an evaluation matrix.
Assess each of the design trends and ensure they meet the following criteria:The scope of the research is sufficiently broadThe credibility of the information is authenticThe research methods used are valid and reliable For this assessment activity, you are required to evaluate each of the design trends using 100- 150 words.
Through the application of a number of research methodologies, it has been seen that, these methods are essentially effective in drawing consumer attention to determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the research procedures. This has been designed as an essential tool to provide the most effective planning and organizing method for evaluation.  Evaluation Name: effectiveness of mobile global research designEvaluation Purpose: understanding the effectiveness and efficiency of mobile utilization in terms of providing a researched outcome and more practical scenario to forecast suture sales.  Evaluation Question Suggested methods for answering this questionHow much effort did you personally have to put forth to handle the handset? Customer feedback method (Qualitative research)How much time do you spend with your mobile per day?Informal researchIf you were to review the website what score would you give it out of 5 Quantitative research

1e. Use your research of design trends to challenge your way of thinking and generate three (3) ideas of how design trends may impact your future work.
How has your research challenged your way of thinking and extended your own perspectives? Answer using 100-150 words.
The research has potentially been able to challenge the previous notion of thought in terms of extending the perspectives as with the technological development I I quite obvious, the data collection method along with the potential data sources have been very specific and advanced in nature. Previously there was single method of assessing the product’s performance that was thorough only the facility of employee review and feedback. However, with the advent of e mail marketing, data tracking variant, the research has been more realistic and appropriate. Thus it has been able to change the previous perspective with the advanced one in terms of methodologies.
How have you evaluated and determined the implications and consequences of design trends on your research that you have conducted. Identify and list two (2) implications and consequences of design trends.Answer using 100-150 words.
The two specific consequences that have been certified throughout the research is the advent of marketing standards that justifies the effectiveness and efficiency of the research methodologies. The standpoint for social change has been one of the most dramatic implication that  has completely changed the psychographic scenario of the individuals making them more prone to utilize technologically advanced opportunities by bringing in social change. The next implication that it has brought in is the advent of data tracking capabilities with the assistance of data analytic as a broader term to ensure the organizational success in its true sense (Hewson 2017).

Explain how emerging trends and technologies can present creative or commercial opportunities. Conduct a critical analysis and present a summary using 100-150 words.
Emerging trend and technologies have provided companies with utmost innovative opportunities to remain flexible and sustainable in terms o designing the global strategy for organizational enhancements. The commercial opportunities have been the major attractions in terms of designing the market trend and the consumers’ expectation scenario.
What systems have you developed and put in place to be able to identify and respond to any future opportunities?Provide/include evidence of two (2) systems.
The two systems that have been utilized are the software that can be utilized to data tracking and the LMS portals to effectively provide the employees with the opportunity to learn and remain sustainable in the long run.

The entire activity of research has been done through the effectiveness and efficiency of key marketing concepts depending upon the consumer behavioral approach and growing market opportunities. Depending upon these factors, the assessment has been effectively done to ensue the sustainability of the firm and increased profitability ratio. This has increased the advancement of technology with the inclusion of current marketing trend that I have tried to utilize in terms of technological advancement and innovations , blended with the sustainability attribute to ensure firm’s competency level and increased social standpoint in the current market scenario. The review that has been collected through primary research has helped me in determining the key improvement areas for the firm so that the firm can remain sustainable and flexible depending upon market demand and the core competencies (Park and Park 2016). This has been one of the most advantageous factors in terms of increasing the firm’s profitability index. The employee interactions along with the risk management capabilities of the firm also have helped in remaining sustainable in the long run. Thus, with the assistance of these attributes I have tried to remain high0end competent in terms of engaging employees and consumers to the effective market research that will contribute to the current trends of global designing.
