The 4000 and 14000 series are the oldest CMOS series.These series contain many of the same logic function be pin compatons as the TTL family ,but they were not designed to be pin compatible with TTL devices.
For example—The 4001 quad NOR chip contains four two input NOR gate inputs and outputs,the TTL 7402 Chip ,but the gate inputs and outputs on the CMOS chip will not have the same pin number as the corresponding signals on the TTL chip.
