The use of the Deakin Library was done in order to locate this particular text book. Firstly, the site of the Deakin University was opened. Below right hand side of site contains a link access deakin. This heading consists of various sub headings such as faculties & schools, administrative divisions, library, international activities, policies & governance & giving to Deakin. I clicked on the sub heading “Library”. A page opened up containing a search icon – Search the library catalog along with the location.

IntroductionThe book is majorly written for Australian students. It refers to a guide which helps the college students to practice writing skills at the university level. This book comprises of the various sections such as learn & write at the university level, answer the essay question (Deakin University, 2011), how to structure different types of essay, get hold of the relevant information, assess the information, citing the information, writing introduction & conclusion in the essay, giving it a finishing touch (Shields, 2010).
Students at the university level consist of the students ranging from freshers to adults, young students to mature population. People belonging to the international university come from varied educational backgrounds & are unfamiliar with the Australian education pattern & writing skills. Therefore, this book acts as a guide for the students studying in the Australian university (Deakin University, 2011). The writing skills format at the university levels is quite formal in nature & helps the students to write better essays. This book would help in order to polish the writing skills of the university students (Deakin University, 2011).
BodyThe book starts with the effective use of written communication, types of writing methods used at the university level, the 4 Q’s in writing, the entire process of writing & its stages. It has included in the book that, writing refers to one of the most forms of communication at the university level. It has been referred to as one of the most important aspects of communication (Deakin University, 2011).
While practicing this form of communication, two things should be kept in mind i.e. why are we writing it & to whom are we writing it (Deakin University, 2011). The four W’s such as What, Why, When & Whom should be kept in mind while writing. The audience along with the purpose of writing should be well defined (Shields, 2010).
The different types of writing practiced at the university level would include the following i.e. easy, summaries, projects, dissertation, journals, reflective essay, research papers, articles, analysis of the case study, etc. Essay refers to one of the types of academic writing which is being practiced at the university level (Shields, 2010).
Once the student learns as to how to learn & write a particular form of communication style, the second step would be to analyze the question of the essay. The student should be able to focus upon the essay question as well as formulate a structured time plan (Deakin University, 2011). The students should be able to choose a preferred style of writing. They should be able to organize their time & use the right style of language, format along with appropriate English. While analyzing the same, three things should be taken into account i.e. topic, instruction & fair focus (Shields, 2010).A structured essay plan should be made by the students which would help them to emphasize on various areas. A structured essay plan should be made by the student so as to show a general direction of the same (Deakin University, 2011). This means that, in depth research on the topic would be required. The essay should be structured under the three heads such as introduction, body & conclusion. The three aspects mentioned above would help in order to frame a sequence for the same (Shields, 2010).

This research project takes in to consideration the launch of the Channel MTV in the year 1981. It must be noted that, this channel has been referred to as one of the most visited channel. MTV has been seen as one of the channels which air one of the best songs.
BodyThe launch of the channel MTV’s began in the year 197, when there were two most interactive communication cables known as QUBE situated in Columbus & WASEC. The QUBE cable offered one of the music channels i.e. Sight On sound which offered footage of various concerts, television programs, etc. QUBE was referred to as one of the most interactive communication cables which gave its viewers the opportunity to demand for their favorite songs.
The entire format for the channel MTV was created & formulated by one of the media executives i.e. Robert Pittman. Robert Pittman, was known as the CEO of the MTV network. Before the launch of the MTV channel, Pittman undertook a test by hosting a various tracks, television shows, etc in the year 1970 (New Issue, 2011).
1st August 1981, was the day when the most viewed channel i.e. MTV was launched all across the globe. This channel was on air for the first time in the year 1981. The initial words which were spoken by the President of MTV were “Ladies & Gentlemen, Rock n Roll”. The first track which was aired on this channel was “The Buggles” & the first video to be launched all over was “Video Killed – Radio Star”. This video was only available to people residing in New Jersey & with the launch of this channel the video was made available to the viewers all across the globe.This network underwent various types of permutations & one of the leading music channels i.e. VH1 honored the founding of MTV with the help of a marathon which continued for three days. The recorded telecast of the same was being done on the first hour on the newly launched music channel i.e. MTV (New Issue, 2011).
With the launch of MTV, the entire music industry was changed. It became one of the major sources of fun, frolic, entertainment majorly in US, Asia, Europe, Latin America & other parts of the world as well. During the initial days of the launch of MTV, various basic programs such as videos, concerts, etc were being aired by the different video jockey’s (VJ’s) (New Issue, 2011). This music channel also offered the videos free of cost as compared to the record companies. The various record channels soon realized, that MTV could be rendered to as one of the channels which would help in order to promote the videos in the most innovative ways. Therefore, the recording companies invested high amount of money in making the videos more innovative, attractive which would help to attract more number of viewers. Later in the year 1981, MTV was rendered to as a tool which would help in order to promote videos of Madonna, Duran, and Michael Jackson on high rotation basis (New Issue, 2011).
In late 1980s, MTV aired various programs which were majorly focused upon adults, teenagers, youngsters, etc. These programs were termed as reality shows. These serials were based on various themes or real life situations. Such type of serials helped the channel i.e. MTV to raise its TRP’s. Some of the most popular serials which were broadcasted on this channel were – Newlyweds, My Super Sweet16, Laguna Beach, The hills, The Osbournes, etc. The channel; was also quite successful in debuting the animated series of the various documentaries, games, news, Deathmatch, campaigns on various topics such as sex, voting rights, etc.
The launch of the new & most interactive music channel led to boost the entire music industry. As mentioned above, the various music companies used this channel as tool for promotion which helped to promote innovative as well as attractive videos. In the year 1981, after the launch of this channel people became more open towards music (MTV Channels, 2011).
MTV was also quite successful in raising various cultural boundaries by airing certain videos such as “Like a prayer”, etc. In the years 1984, the channel soon introduced the MTV music videos. These awards were followed by the Movie Awards which were being aired live on this channel (New Issue, 2011).
ConclusionHence, the research paper highlights the launch of MTV channel in the year 1981.
