Question:
Create a workplace policy and procedure (one to two pages) relating to noise management. Examples of procedures can be found on the internet. While you might use these procedures as a model, the document you produce should be your own.
Needs to meet Australian NSW Standards can be a noise policy for any type of industry. Thats the writers choice.
You must only use Australian legislation website in specific relating to the state of NSW a noise policy is a specific workplace plan. NOT AN ESSAY
No referencing should be in the document just list at the bottom of the page the sources used. There should be no international sources used. Spelling should be Australian English not US English.

Answer:
Workplace Policy
- Australian NSW workplaces have relatively high numbers of workers being regularly affected by noise. As more and more individuals gets disabled permanently and temporarily it becomes extremely important to comply to such standards. Noise related injuries are more common in mining, electricity, water and waste management and gas companies.
- Employees and workers should not be exposed to 85 decibels or more within a period of 8 hours. Exposure time and noise levels needs to be regulated at the start such that they can have minimal amounts of impacts on worker’s health and reduce number of accidents. Hence, work-shifts needs to be decided according to such shifts such as to minimize health impacts.
- Health and safety norms needs to be adhered to by workers and employees, to prevent potential threat to health and accidents at workplaces(PLAN, 2015). Noise pollution has been the growing cause within workplace that leads to permanent or temporary loss from hearing or tinnitus. Hearing damage from extended exposure to noise or can occur from sudden exposure to noise. Data reflects more than 10,000 odd workers being affected by noise related injuries with more than 85% being totally disabled.
- During peak noise levels employees should not be exposed to 140 decibels during any time of the day. Thus, HR manager needs to coordinate activities such that such levels of noise exposure for each and every individual employee can easily be regulated.
- Work shifts should be such that it is below 50 decibels to improvise concentration and enhance productivity of employees.
- In case work hazards are such that employees will be exposed to 70 decibels of noise per day, then conversation needs to be regularized. such conversations will ensure that an alternative exposure to noise is maintained and impacts or hazards are reduced significantly
.
- In case the plant or factory generates high levels of noise pollution, then it needs be ensured that up-gradation to quietest plant is undertaken. Ways of conducting the work also needs to be transformed as hammering, welding, riveting needs to be reduced.
- Noise levels from the source has to be regulated periodically such that they do not cause any harmful effects. Silencers to exhaust, fan speeds, other volumes needs to be turned down. Noise sources has to be isolated or made sound-proof or remote controlled.
- Employees needs to provided hearing protection in cases where noises cannot be reduced. Exposure levels can be reduced through rest breaks, limiting time spent in noisy areas and so on.
- An audiometric tests can frequently be conducted on workers to ensure personal protection. Every two years such tests will help reduce impacts on health and reduce hearing impairments.
- Manufacturers, producers and other plants needs to ensure that they operate at minimum noises possible. Regulatory measures and processes need to be coordinated in a way that can help overcome barriers in reducing hearing problems and noise pollutions.
