Kolb Learning cycle was being founded by David Kolb on 1984. It is also known as experimental learning theory where four factors such as doing something concrete, reflecting, conceptualizing and planning. There are four styles of learning which are being highlighted by Divergers, Convergers, Accomodators and Assimilators. The Divergers are those who enjoy working and participating with other in a calm manner. The Divergers get influenced easily by feedback of other. Convergers are those who prefer to work with independently by applying their own ideas by implementing small changes. Accomodators are those who believe in direct interaction of people. Accomodators are those who work on others guidance and give less preference to thinking process (Changing Minds 2013).
The Kolb’s learning cycle has been applied with context four phases such as Concrete experience, reflective experience, Conceptualization, Active experimentation. It is applied for computer learning process by the students. According to concrete experience it is a process which helps in delegating task to individuals, teams and organization. Certain activities such as team based games, ice breaking exercises, discussions and debates can be used for engaging individuals in productive work. Reflective experience is takes place when lots of questions are being asked by each others. The suitable communication channel will help in appropriate decision making process. It takes place with the help of appropriate observation, transparent feedback, and by writing short reports. Abstract Conceptualization helps in evaluating and interpreting previous events and starts to make comparison. It takes place with support of theories and facts. The last stage is related to active experimentation process where appropriate planning and translation takes place with support of active role plays and discussion (Mihoces Gary 2011). The four factors such as Convergers are applied in Physical science and engineering, Divergers are applied in humanities and arts, Assimilators are applied at mathematics and basic science, and accommodators in business. He also states that there are only three stages of development such as acquisition, specialization and development. Acquisition is a process of developing the structures in a cognitive manner. Specialization helps in shaping personality of learners with process of socialization. Integration also helps in maintaining balance between personal life and Learning style. This theory is widely accepted but it also has got several types of limitations such as many researchers have been stating that learning is a process which includes intentions, purpose, goals, and decision making process. Kolb have highlighted that result of this learning is based on how individual learner rates himself. The process of learning style is being ignored which are set according to standards and behavioral aspects.
