Purpose of Group

Groups are being formed in order to reach the desired objectives in more effectual manner and in an innovative way. Establishing Relationship between Workers and Groups

Engagement and Assessment are the two steps in change process which eventually help in establishing a relationship between the social workers and the groups. Engagement helps in establishing a professional relationship between the group and the community workers and the social work profession thrives on pre-requisite of relationship and engagement starts with first contact between the workers and the groups.

Making Sure Enough Resources are Available

Through the identification and assessment of the needs of the groups we can make sure that it has enough or sufficient resources available to ruin the group. Thus trying to gain depth and breadth while understanding the needs of the group is important. We need to judge the urgency of need of client and the priority of the group needs. If the agency is unable to supply proper resources we will try to find out the informal resources which mostly the groups overlook. These informal resources cover the friends, family, co-workers, and other people with whom the client has already some kind of relationship (Kirst-Ashman and. Hull, 2011).

Promoting the Group

The group can be promoted through a planned Promotional Session which will include spreading the message of the group through local media, sending flyers and face-to-face conversations. Good promotion means the process of communicating more than facts and it is considered to be a good idea to find a positive solution which should be communicated through following steps:

• Commence with positive solution
• Develop a catchy story
• Inculcate a visual message
• Include an inspiring quotation from  a trusted person or a similar person
• Always use simple and plain English
• Do not ever forget to include the call for action
• Identify your organization clearly
• Create a mail or email list
• Get the message out using various channels

Considerations when planning group activity

The few considerations which should be kept in mind while planning a group activity along with reason are:

• Learn about the Group as there are women of various age and category some are widow and some have kids etc.
• Try to identify their concerns and interest
•  Create a safe and accessible activity because fear of unfamiliarity or  personal safety will reduce their involvement
• Involve group members in planning activity so that they feel that they are part of the whole process (Clear Manual: Community Leadership, Empowerment and Awareness Resources, 2009)
