DIVERSITY AND DIFFERENCES IN HUMAN RESOURCE

QUESTION

SOLUTION

FACING ADVERSITY:

The word ‘adversity’ derives its origin from the Latin word ‘adversitatem’ which means an unwanted or unfavorable situation. Adversities are in general, situations that are associated with wickedness, malice, calamities or misfortune. We say, that we are facing an adverse situation or an adversity when something that we had not expected shows up from nowhere.

The world today portrays a plethora of options and associated with the abundant options are an abundant scope of setbacks. There are limitations to every field, to every task that one takes up in every day and every moment. Thus, one has to be well versed with the knowledge of overcoming the hurdles before the path of progress.

The common saying goes; life is not a bed of roses. But then again, life can be made a bed of roses provided one is well aware of the thorns that he has to take care of. When one is well aware of the loopholes and the problems that he is expected to come across in his pursuit of making the best of all that he does in his life. But then again, some issues might be completely new, might be unknown to one. In circumstances like these, a setback or a failure is sure to hold us back and adversities are sure to play the master of our fates. But a true winner is one who doesn’t let this failure deter his focus from his goals and hold him stagnant at the pit. A true winner learns from his falls. He takes a lesson from every failure that he meets, makes it the foundation of a major success.

For a winner, how hard the fall turns out to be is never important. All that matters is how hard you hit back. Thus facing adversities has become the nature of the day. One has to understand that the path to the destination is not all smooth and straight. There are pits, some shallow, and some deep and there are detours too. To keep moving no matter what the circumstances are is the essence of learning to deal with adversities. We can’t after all avoid all the hurdles that might show up on our paths to achieving our goals. But if we are strong will powered, highly determined and act calm and collectively, we can turn the unfavorable situations in favor of us. In the tough times, by not cribbing over luck, by not fretting over how miserable things are one can mould our destiny with his own hands. One has to keep optimism close to his heart and mind, has to be audacious and brave and  not let the situations, no matter how significantly detrimental they might act for him, rule over his mind and hold him back, chaining him to failure. At all points of time, facing the adversities with a smile is the solution to all sorts of setbacks, which are truly just a miniature part of the bigger picture. Thus it is never clever to try avoiding the path of hurdles, rather being rational enough to choose a path full of hurdles, deals with every hurdle that comes our way with lessons learnt from experiences of life, and thus being able to turn them into favorable points, is what dealing with adversities is all about. Believing in self is the key to all the problems of adversities.

STORY WRITING:

Often the scorching heat of the summer becomes a painful thing to bear. One is always tempted to stay home, to stay indoors and sometimes to take shortcuts. Funny as it may sound; summer and shortcuts have a deep connect. And more an intense connection in the story hereby elaborated.

One fine afternoon in summer, on my way back home from school, I decided that the sun was way too unbearable and the only easy way to find some relief from it would be by taking the shortcut to reach home in less time. The route I decided upon was an isolated old road that had been long discarded and thus was isolated.  Though, initially I was in a dilemma whether to take that road or not, the basic instinct of adventure that I had in me persuaded me to embark on it.

There were trees and there was cool breeze and thus I was convinced that I had after all made the right choice. It was just then, that I heard a woman cry for help from somewhere nearby. And again the stint to prove my courage urged me to go and pay heed to the woman in despair, as the situation portrayed that she was in some danger. Keeping aside my bike, I went on to locate wherefrom the frantic cries for help came.

Alas! I found her behind a bush and figured out that she was in pain, as she asked me to get her some medical help immediately. I had a chance to help someone in need and the feeling of being of so much of help to someone had just registered itself on my mind, when I heard a smirk and bullying laughter behind my back. A tall and healthy man, in his early thirties, emerged from behind of another bush with a broken branch of leaf and the next thing I saw was the woman was up on her foot and was laughing her wits out.

Indeed I needed sometime to figure out what was happening around and that much needed break was given to me by the blow of a broken branch of the tree that the man was holding.

When I next regained consciousness, the road had reverted to being isolated as always. And a little inspection around made me gather that my bike had isolated me, as had my wallet and my cell phone. I had been robbed in broad daylight.

The shortcut thus provided no relief from the sun, as I had to walk all the way down to the main road and ask a by passer for a lift to home. At home I would definitely be rewarded for my traits of bravery and helpfulness, I thought on. Of course that was sarcastic. I would definitely be taught a good lesson by my parents once I told they came to know about the happenings. By the time I reached home, I had made up my mind that shortcuts weren’t after all worth any try, neither in academics nor in day to day life activities.

THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN MITIGATING CRIME:

A crime is said to be committed when one goes against the laws of the governing authorities and the consequence of this is that the criminal, the person who commits the crime, is awarded with some punishment.

In the early times, man was a docile creature and owing to his social trait he longed for the company of his fellow humans. Times have changed. Today man in the pursuit of his own selfish gains, has crossed all ethical boundaries and doesn’t care about hurting the emotions of his fellow beings or the environment he lives in. The nature of greed embedded in the mentalities of the modern man has compelled him to act selfish and harm all that comes to be a hurdle before his whims and fancies. Thus crime rates have gone up, all over the world. Rules are disobeyed, restrictions are overlooked, and corruption has infected the tree of the social systems, from root to tips.

Youth is the younger generation of the national population. Philosophers since time immemorial have been propounding that the future of any nation, necessarily lies in the hands of the youth of the nation. The more aware and alert the youth of a nation is, the brighter the prospects of the nation’s development are.

The youth is to be trained to be honest and to live by principle of truthfulness. The first pre-requisite being, the youth should be well educated. A strong morale base laid down through extensive education right from the beginning of the childhood, straight into the adolescence, creates basic principles within the frontiers of his intellect. The youth learns to act rationally and becomes a law abiding citizen and stands against injustice done to him or his fellow beings. The youth becomes respectful of the laws of the government and scared of the consequences of the violations of the laws. It is often seen, that it is again the youth that is mainly indulged in crimes, owing to their ambitious nature they are tricked into taking shortcuts and thus the chain reactions that lead to crimes being committed is reached. Thus, the youth has to be counseled well and their stress levels have to be managed. These troubled minds have to be healed and incorporated into the mainstream to ensure that they don’t retreat back into committing crimes.

The youth is the young and fresh blood of the nation. They infuse a sense of revolution in the minds of people. When the nation’s majority is fighting for creating a peaceful and healthy atmosphere of growth, the nation’s other minority that is drawn towards creating upheavals and infusing crime into the society will eventually give up and join the majority in bringing down the crime rates. The youth today is equipped with modern means of mass communication. They are internet savvy and take up the initiative to mitigate crime at all levels. Thus the youth awakens the entire nation. A nation that has its youth awakened against crimes and willing to participate in mitigation of crimes has a blessing to blossom.

PEACE OF MIND OR VICTORY:

One of the most common sayings of the old times is “Participation is more important than winning”. Now this is quite a controversial topic. The logic of participation in itself is winning. One participates in the competitions to secure a win.

But the other reality is that the human mind in all situations and consequences seeks the peace of mind. In times of despair and in success, all that satiates the thirst of human mind is peace. That is the ultimate goal of human existence.

It would be unfair to say that victory should hold no importance in one’s life. It is of utmost importance that one should aim to conquer heights and at the same time one must be well prepared to face the consequences of willing to achieve great heights, which may be sweet or at times bitter. After all human body is not all about the mind; it also has a heart that is vulnerable to feelings of joy and despair. What is important is to try to succeed and excel. If there are failures, one should still be content with the fact that he at least put up a brilliant play. Thus one should play fair and not be too worried about the consequences that are to follow. The peace of mind is the state that energizes the human to act logically and rationally and to excel in all unfavorable situations. The state of peace of mind fills the human being with an exuberant zeal of enthusiasm.

Often in life we come to face situations where we are positioned against our loved ones, friends or family, in the race of life. In situations like this, all that one should think of is of a fair play. Even if one loses against his opponent, there should be a sense of happiness and satisfaction for the winner. Relationships after all are over and above the competitions for material gains in life. The satisfaction of being able to put up a fair play and of having tried to the level best is more important and worthwhile than the sheer joy of winning. Winning is just half the story of life, peace of mind is what completes the essence of life. Thus peace of life should be made a habit of routine. It instills mental and physical health in an individual and makes him strong.

When one understands the value of peace of mind, he breaks all the chains that the want of victory plagues his mind with. Sometimes the competitions and races of life are beyond victories and losses. You may lose to an unknown person or to a close friend and still realize that the win does more good to them than it could have done to you yourself. This brings about a sense of appreciation for other’s victory and peace of mind to one’s own self. Winning or losing is not the prime essence of life, what is important is the lesson that is learnt in the process. It is the lesson that prepares you for a better future.
