SOLUTION

1.    Introduction

This report has been written to understand the feasibility of building a Day care center in the Cemex college. This report was specifically made after discussing its relevance with the college Alumni. This report was requested on 14 April 2012.

Objectives

The objectives of this report are as follows:

i.          To critically appraise the area where the Cemex college building is located.

ii.          To critically appraise the surroundings of the area where the Cemex college building is located.

iii.          To list down the College priorities with reference to the Day care facility.

iv.          To assign a tentative schedule and budget for the construction of Day care facility.

Scope

The report examines availability of the entire infrastructure for successful construction of Day care center. Infrastructure includes i) Land, ii) Bus parking, iii) Water supply, iv) first aid and safety equipment such as fire extinguisher, v) Emergency Medical facility within 2 miles of the college building.

The report does not examine the exact start and end date of constructing the Day care facility because the exact schedule will be confirmed after the College technical team and the Dean Mr. John approves this project.

2.    Literature Review

The investigation has been done by the “Smiling Babies” organization that is the Day care specialist of Philadelphia.  Smiling Babies has been successful in making babies smile with its Day care facility for over two decades in Philadelphia, America. The company’s technical team is apt with a well-defined process to do the feasibility studies of different areas in Philadelphia and other cities such as California and Florida. The process they use helps them analyze facts such as the nearest police station, fire brigade, medical facility/hospital, and most importantly various picnic spots such as museums, Farms, Bread factories and other relevant locations that will keep the kid’s happy. (West .J., Wright .D., Hausken .EG., 1995).

3.    Methodology

We chose the respondents on recommendations given by the Cemex college Alumni. We were advised by the Alumni to interview with the Cemex college faculties, Trustees, Guest lecturers and Student committee. For the purpose of interviewing the college associates we had prepared a detailed questionnaire (Refer Appendix). We started interviewing everyone from the first week of March and finished all interviews by last week of March. We also got responses through e-mails for those teachers who could not spare time for a face-to-face interview due to their busy schedule. Overall we got an excellent response from all the faculties, trustees, guest lecturers and student committee. (Kontos S, Howes C, Shinn M, Galinsky E. 1995)

4.    Findings

In general the findings indicated that the Cemex college Day care facility will be able to accommodate 25 kids per session. Smiling Babies Company can design the day care schedule to conduct three sessions each day. The respondents specifically requested for sessions to be conducted throughout the day because all the Student parents prefer flexible hours as most of them have to manage both Jobs and Studies. (Burchinal MR, Nelson L. 2000)

It came to our attention that the Day care facility can be kept well-ventilated because there is lot of greenery across the school arena. The college premises are well-maintained and kept clean at all times. Smiling Babies can manage up to 75 kids per day and this is a good number according to all the respondents. We invited reports from our regular vendors for the Hazard and safety equipment. It gives us immense pleasure to mention in this report that we got a 100% grant from both the vendors as well as government authorities regarding the construction of Day care facility. According to all the authorities, constructing a Day care for Cemex college can be safe, fruitful, efficient and productive for all the parent students, teachers and the college itself. (Bronfenbrenner U, Morris PA 1998).

5.    Conclusions

The main conclusion that can be drawn is therefore that a Day care facility will prove to be immensely beneficial for both the Cemex college students as well as teachers. Firstly, it becomes very convenient for all the Parent students to focus on study, while their kids are in good hands. Secondly, it was also suggested by many of the respondents that all the kids admitted in day care facility can avail for a Cemex college scholarship from the age of 14 onwards. Being closely associated with the teachers, the kids will also be provided mentoring from the college faculties for as long as they need.

It is mutually decided in a meeting between Parent students, faculties, trustees and us that the care givers working in the Day care facility must have a minimum of 50 hours training and 200 hours day care experience. The Day care employees will also have the required certification as prescribed by the law of the land. Lastly, another matter of pleasure is that we have received a good feedback from the licensing authorities about granting license to the Cemex college Day care facility. Considering the high reputation of Cemex college, we are willing to combine both the names Cemex and Smiling babies as the new name for the Cemex college Day care center. The name coined would be like, “Smiling Cemex Babies Day Care Center”. As we received a positive response from most respondents about the new name, we have initiated the Day care facility registration with the same name, “Smiling Cemex Babies Day Care Center”.   (Whitebook M., Howes C., Phillips D., 1989).

6.    Recommendations

In the light of the above conclusions, I recommend that the construction of “Smiling Cemex Babies Day Care Center” be given the highest priority in the current year objectives listed by the Cemex college administration.
