Thus, in such context the role of education plays a vital role to ensure justice and equality. On one hand various moments take place to ensure social justice and equality for people of every group, however on the other hand people perceive discriminatory notions for one another. It is often thought that education is necessary mean for every individual in order to create harmony and get equal opportunities in life. Whereas it is often observed that the educational settings in most of the places are dominated by practices of exclusion and inequality. These inequalities often find its roots in gender discrimination, disabled group and indigenous population etc.
This situation can be found in the case of Australia wherein a report suggests that there is a large gap in the learning and results of children belonging to different strata of the society (The University of Adelaide 2010). He further argues that in a complex society, certain people are allowed to succeed, whereas the others are not, which is only based upon the cultural experiences. The report also showed that the children do not only face exclusion in educational settings but they are disadvantaged in their socio-economic status, connectedness with rest of the parts of society, health services and housing facilities. Professor Anne Daly, the chief researcher in this report further mentioned that the parents of these greater risk children are not employed, have low income levels, have not completed 12th year of education and do not have access to various facilities such as internet, vehicles and health services, etc. The report also observed that the highest number of children under the risk of inequality and inclusion belong to Northern Territory, Queensland, Western Australia, and followed by South Australia. On the other, children with least levels of inequality belong to the capital cities in ACT, NSW, Victoria, Western Australia and South Australia. Thus, denoting the fact that cases of social inclusion of children, largely in educational settings are regional (Macdonald, E. 2012). In the context of the indigenous population, the case is same and many children do not have access to formal education only because of their origin. Thus, it is important for the rest of Australians to note that indigenous population is the first race of Australian society. Instead of marginalizing them into the disadvantaged section, they should be considered in the mainstream group. Therefore, due to the lack of appropriate government policy in Australia, a large part of the population is excluded in the educational settings. According to a research by the Centre for Rural Social research in Charles Sturt University, the financial expenditure for formal education leads to a major cleavage in Australia because the poor and unprivileged population either does not have access to it because to the group they belong, or they do not have enough financial stability. Thus, the decline of rural population to access tertiary population hampers the Australian society and minimizes the affect of various opportunities of globalization (Alston & Kent 2003).
Henceforth, it can be observed that due to the lack of government initiatives and social welfare policies, the children are not treated in educational institutions. Thus, the government should arrive at a national policy that would provide equal benefits to each group. The government should consider the fact that foundation of national character is built upon education of a country. Furthermore, the government should provide a strong schooling system that would carry formal and efficient form of educational settings. The government should also provide funding facilities at various levels for poverty ridden families. It should also aim to provide awareness programs amongst the high risk groups, so that parents have information about the schooling systems, its impacts and send their children to schools (Boston, K. 2002). Therefore, the government should work in an efficient manner to improve the educational settings in Australia by providing equal opportunities to the children of every class and group in the society, irrespective of their cultural history.
In this context, it can be observed that while every group discusses the importance of equality, human rights and social inclusion, the actual practice has another story. Many children do not have access to proper educational facilities or are ignored due to their cultural identity. Many children fail in their classes because they either do not get support from families, or are excluded by their teachers and peer groups. The government of Australia should aim to implemented policies that target a specific group, which has low levels of educational qualification. It is important for the Australian people to understand that in order to have an equalitarian society; the stereotypical perception of certain groups should be ignored. Moreover, the country is under performing because of its increasing inequality in a diverse cultural setting. Therefore, due to the lack of appropriate government policy in Australia, a large part of the population is excluded in the educational settings. Through proper and effective initiatives the issue can be resolved and many children can have access to formal education, with social inclusion at all levels
