Identification of ego states and reasons

Child-rebellious; it occurs at 7:12 where one boy tries to hit another female student with a car. The actions of the boy are clearly intentional. Also, it occurs at 8:45, where a boy is told by a girl that she would not be available. But the boy tells the girl to go another weekend for her to create time for him.

Child-natural; it happens at 11:25 where there are a boy and girl that are happing playing and chasing each other.

Child-adapted: This scene occurs at 12:5 when four boys attack a girl.

Parent-critical: This occurs at 15:04, where the father asks what is happening and order the daughter to go inside.

Parent-nurturing: It occurs at 7:13 where the father is concerned about her daughter and asks her if she is alright.

Adult: at 20:55 where the older man engages in conversation with the youth.

Example of each type of transaction

Parallel this transaction is a mode of communication where the conversation is predictable. For example, Bela’s father asks her how she was feeling, and she answers fine. One can easily predict the response based on the state of the respondent.

The crossed transaction occurs at 27:38 when one of the group members say that he did not know the territory had been taken, and they will not be a problem anymore. The other group replies excellent. They seem to agree, but they are not.

Ulterior this type of transaction occurs at 21:51 where one of the friends is required to come public, and she gives an answer that is ulterior.

Types of the Stroke

The two examples of strokes in the movie are verbal and non-verbal or positive and negative. An example of verbal stroke is hello, while an example of non-verbal stroke in the movie includes the hugs. Both the verbal and non-verbal strokes that are used in this movie are meant to pass information between the two communication parties. For example, a hug between two people in the movie is used to mean that they are in a good relationship.

Characters illustrating each life position

The first life position is “I am O.K., You are O.K.”, and Bela has severally illustrated this. For example, when one of the boys try to hit her with the vehicle, she is rescued, and when her father meet her, she says she is ok. She is also in good terms with her friends.

Second life position is “I am O.K., You are not O.K”. An example is a boy that suggest to Bela that they should go out with her. Bela says that she will not be around, but the boy insists and wants Bela to reschedule her plans. The boy views himself to be okay and not others.

Third life position is “I am not O.K.; you are O.K.” An example of such character is Bela’s boyfriend that says he is not okay. He sees himself as evil, and not as good as other people. He says that he is one of the most dangerous predators.

The last life position is “I am not O.K., you are not O.K”. An example is a boy who wants to crush Bela with a car at the beginning of the movie.

Different Usage of time

Intimacy: Bela and her boyfriend/ friend spare some time to have intimacy. This is seen when the two friends try to make love in Bela’s home.

Activities: There are several times in the movie when the friends go play games such as hockey and tennis.

Rituals: When Bela’s father arrives at the hospital, it was expected that he would inquire how she was feeling or her state.

Pastimes: There are several instances where Bela and her boyfriend/friend talk about general things in life.

Games and Ratchets: Bela’s boyfriend/friend tells her not to move while he tries to kiss her, although this does not happen as he is through to the wall.

Withdrawal: happens when Bela wants to be given immortality state and she fantasizes having good times with her boyfriend in the woods.
