Developmental Math Full Sequence course

Proposed approach on evaluating the value of content and features in the product

  1. Design thinking interview

This is basically with the aim of evaluating and examining the projected success of the course design content and its features. This can be done through launching a pilot programme to measure how the algebra foundation course can be delivered.

  • Rapid prototyping

As the product manager I will roll out a trial version of the syllabus. During this time, I will try to evaluate and measure how the quality and value of the content is being done in relation to instructors and students.

  • Creating instructor feedback survey

As the product manager getting insight from the instructors is invaluable. This feedback survey should be able to get instructors each lesson and each part of the teaching programme. In this way as the product manager will be able to gauge the effectiveness of each junk material in the course.

Proposed approach to researching the problems

.

  1. Reduce product friction

As a product manager I will try my best to reduce friction in navigation with the aim of changing both learners’ and instructors’ perception of the course. Product friction involves barriers that hinder learners to navigate quickly to the main and important menus. As a product manager I will reduce hindrances right from the sign-up to the navigation in the main page.

  • Easing access

As a product manager I will try to make sure both learners are able to access materials and resources need for the course. This can be done by various ways such making the course and website accessible to both learners and instructors, creation of various ways whereby instructors can be able to assess students’ ability in the course et cetera.

  • Feedback

As the product will root for response in regard to the course from both the students and instructors and see where the product can be improved. This can be done by rolling out the course content to students and then look for feedback after a set timeframe.

Approach to investigate the value of different jobs to be done

  1. Compatibility

As the product manager I will check how the programme can be compatible with other operating systems and browsers. I will also check easiness of accessing the online course in various browsers and how the safety and security of learners and students’ data can be assured.

  • The to do list

As a product manager I will rank tasks to be done in order of their importance and urgency. For instance, those topics that are also basis of learning other topics will be scheduled to be done first.

  • Workload review

As the product manager, I will make sure that those tasks that are always ending down in the pile are delegated to be done so that I ensure that all tasks are accorded relative importance.

  • Setting realistic timelines

As the product manager I will make sure that the goals and aims that I set are achievable and should refrain from becoming overambitious in execution of the course content by instructors and learners.

  • Avoid multitasking

As the product manager I will ensure that both instructors and learners are not left with various tasks to do at the same time. This is because multitasking reduces both learners and instructors’ concentration which might lead to low quality feedback.

Approach to prioritization

  1. As the product will use various ways in approaching prioritization of my product. Including; using ice strategy which entails calculating the score per idea or task by measuring impact, confidence and ease.
  • Use of proof points. As the product manager I will use various testable prototype of ideas to prepare for what tasks is to be done first. This will help me to avoid surprises and disappointments from emerging issues and changing market trends.
  • Collaboration

As the product manager I will be able to bring to table all stakeholder involved in both formulation and execution of the course to the table. I will communicate to them at levels and explain why certain decisions had to be made.
