Suggestibility is the quality of being inclined to accept and act on the suggestions of others.

Suggestibility can be defined as the quality of considering and taking decision on the basis of suggestions that are given by others. This quality of suggestibility is majorly seen in a person who is very emotional and thus shows large reception towards the ideas of others. The concept of spectrum of suggestibility has come into existence because of some psychological aspects such as self esteem, assertiveness and other such qualities. The level of suggestibility in a person largely depends on the level of these qualities.

According to Wagstaff (1991), “suggestibility” in a person can be of different types. Some commonly found suggestibility are:

Automatism Suggestibility: Under this suggestibility, a person gets affected by the communication or expectation of others and thus enacts certain responses without any volition.

Deliberate Suggestibility: Under this suggestibility, a person responds to the communication or expectation of others through his/ her own imagination or strategies even if they are involuntary in nature.

In some cases, a suggestible person consciously, uncrically and privately accept what others have said and act accordingly. However, in some cases, behavioral compliance is exhibited by a suggestible person where he/ she do not accept or believe in expectations or suggestions of others and conform them before acting or taking any decision.

A technique can be defined as the procedure which is used by a person to accomplish any specific activity or task.

In case of a person who is suggestible in nature, majority of the time it has been observed that they lack a focused approach. Whenever they are doing something, they feel that they should be doing something else. For example I have a friend who is very emotional and suggestible in nature. Whenever he is busy with his writing assignment and someone talks to him about exercise, he feel like he should go for exercising. When he is exercising and comes to know about a hang out of a person then he feels like that he should go out with his friends. Whenever he is out with friends and someone talks about writing, he realizes that he should focus on writing. Thus this process is endless for him. He is never focused on whatever he is doing, and is always thinking about something in which he is not engaged. Suggestibility, sometimes also lead to multitasking, which result in even a bigger disaster as far as performance of a person in concerned. A person involved in multitasking, though initially feel as if he has achieved a lot but actually the level of achievement is very low.
