It might seem a time consuming process for submitting a reflective journal but I take this opportunity of beginning of application of a new way of thought I have got. The course has brought several changes to the way I saw branding and understood its concepts. The case study on Prada and analysis of what were done right and what was wrong made me understand how branding could affect a brand’s image. Each activity is it in group or the individual assignment I continuously assessed myself by going through the things I came across and learned. The aim of this reflective learning journal is to state and thank all those teachers, friends, and my fellow members who have helped me to understand the things on the subject. The things learnt would really stand important for my future endeavours. On a personal note it gave me the confidence to carry out individual as well as group tasks as it involved a thorough research as well as continuous debate on several points. Besides just the subject matter in discussion and the case study which I did personally the activity helped in understanding the way to coordinate and contribute to the assigned tasks. All these would surely help me in my next semesters and it would be highly beneficial for my studies as well. There were a series of activities which I was involved in such as research, readings, continuous evaluation, understanding certain terms, importance of certain elements for a firm’s international expansion, etc.
Referring to the book The Luxury Strategy by JN Kapferer and V Bastien also enlightened my insights on Branding and its strategies which are important for a firm to implement. The growth story of Prada focuses around the discussion of two important elements such as Flagship stores and Epicenter stores to create its own unique identity. An element which I felt needs to be addressed by me to improve for my future assignments are to gain the confidence to carry out tasks in groups. Assessing the other groups in our class I realised that there were people from diverse backgrounds and brought in different thoughts to the subject which further contributed to the learning about the developments taking around the world. Although I was pretty eager to learn about the subject but initially the lack of knowledge on the subject restricted me to ask questions. However as the research went on I became confident about the terms and associated elements to the branding strategies of a company and its relevance.
