The performance of employees is measured, and the performance bonus is given on the basis of output that is generated by each employee. These benchmarks are extremely helpful for both employees and the company. The employees are able to get rewards and the company are able to maintain high profit levels. Thus, these specific work goals and benchmarks prove to be immensely helpful in improving the performance of the company (Lamb 2011). Also, the company is provided with a strong base for faster development in the region.
Setting up the priorities
The work goals, which are used for the purpose of setting benchmarks for evaluation, is generally set on daily, monthly, and yearly basis. The employees will be given daily targets and will be required to formulate a daily sales report (DSR). This DSR will be representative of the daily efforts by the employees which will be accumulated for the purpose of forming monthly and annual output of each employee. The employee’s performance will be measured against the set goals and the performance bonuses which will be given to employees will be measured against these benchmarks (Lamb 2011). The employees will feel motivated to work and perform better because of the bonus which will contribute in increasing the sales level of the company. The use of technology will prove to be helpful in managing and setting the goals as otherwise lot of man power will be required for handling the work (Moore 2010). Software will be used in which the employees will be entering their daily sales report and the software will also display their performance in comparison to the benchmark. This will help the employee in understanding the level of efforts he is required to put in order to meet the set standards and maximize the profit level (Ferrell and Pride 2011). This will be helpful in continuously reinforcing the final goals among the employees.
Along with maintaining benchmarks for evaluating the performance of employees it is extremely noteworthy that proper work/life balance is maintained. For the purpose of maintaining effective work life balance, the main points, which will be kept into consideration, include effective time management, proper discipline at the work place, listing the foremost priorities, developing the interest for the job, draw a line between the professional and personal life, etc. these steps will prove to be immensely helpful in enjoying good health and stress free life (Burrow 2008). This will contribute positively towards the profit level of the company.
Developing and Maintaining Personal Competence
From the personal viewpoint of handling the post of marketing manager, it is very important to highlight that I possess good leadership skills, which are very important for the purpose of managing the employees and guiding them towards the right direction for gaining excellence in the tasks which are performed by them. Along with this, I have good listening and understanding skills which will play an important role in understanding the problem if the employees and resolving them in the best possible manner.
