Creating the Team Agreement:

Team work is essential to be successful in life. I had always preferred functioning in teams and have a fine understanding of how the teams work because of the preceding and careers I had. The first step was topic assortment of which “Criminals and online shopping” was decided. Then i thought Max, one of my very close friend would also be a good choice so as per his consent three of us formed a group of our own. Now the first task included the preparation of “Team Agreement” whose objectives are to understand representing functions and ways essential for the success of a team (Parfitt, L. 2012)
Interpretation:
Now the initial step was the selection of a team leader and I recommended Elizabeth’s name Even though Max and I are experienced as team leaders but I wanted Elizabeth to have a fresh experience which could prove as a very good opportunity for her as she has never done anything like this before. Then came our first team meeting and I could not reach on time so my team mates especially Max was a bit disappointed. It was entirely my mistake and all of us realized the significance of punctuality for a meeting. Due to this incident we decided to include being punctual to our team agreement so as to avoid it from happening in future
Now it was necessary to frame up our Team’s name. Several names were recommended by each one of us and we all agreed for “Corporate Finders” which was then modified as per our Tutor’s (Lynne Parfitt) suggestion to “ The Finders” Thereafter we decided on the particular roles that an individual will play or in other words we allocated the roles for three of us . Elizabeth was given the role of the team leader, Max was playing the part of editor and I became the recorder of the team. With each one’s consent the responsibilities of the researcher were equally shared.
The Team Agreement was to be prepared now. First of all we had to decide on the contents of the agreement. So we all started proposing the probables, then we were to cut short the less important from them and send the important ones to Max for the preparation of the draft. Elizabeth was given a simpler part and she did it timely but Max and I were unable to do so and had to stretch ourselves overnight so as to finish the task. The main elements of our Team agreement included regular communication , cooperation, time management, quality assurance, support & feedback and idea input there was a brief discussion on non compliances and also conflict management.
We faced a conflict in our initial task itself wherein Max was despondent with Elizabeth’s performance especially her English language ability and Elizabeth was not comfortable with Max’s behavior. I tried being a negotiator but could not resolve their conflict which was then take to our Tutor to get it resolved.
Outcome:
This experience of mine proved out to be valuable s it enabled me to understand my team mates up to some extent and most importantly out shown my weakness of being late. Also it was an unsullied experience to work with two people having diverse social and cultural backgrounds. Another of my learning was that at times it gets very difficult to work with your good friends. Two of the other things which I learned from this experience were proper communication and inter personal understanding are very essential for team work.
Allocation and Conduct of My Role in the Team:
Description:
For any team to work successfully there should be proper allocation of tats to each member. The task is allocated in a manner which best suits an individual’s abilities and their competencies. Another thing that should be kept in mind while role allocation is that no individual should be overloaded with the tasks and all the team mates should readily agree to help out the other ones in their roles, if required .
Interpretation:
In our very first meeting all three of us decided on the roles that we were to perform as per our tutor’s suggestion. I was given the role of a recorder as well as the researcher . I accepted it with much ease because I had preceding familiarity of recording meetings. The role of the researcher was mutually performed by all three of us . As Max was excellent with English language hence was given the role of editor. Elizabeth was initially assigned the role of team leader but there were some issues between Max and Elizabeth and to maintain peace in the team the responsibilities of team lead were given to Max. Since Elizabeth is superb with creative thinking she was to work to the best of his capabilities. Also to prevent further conflict in future I was assigned with an additional task of coordinator .
Even though the members had their defined roles but the success of the team depended on the performance of each individual in his role .
Outcome:
Initially I was pretty sure that it will easy to work in our team but each passing day made me realize that it is not a cake walk. I had to put a lot of my time in resolving the conflicts that were coming up in the team as I was assigned the role of coordinator. This was quite challenging but it enabled me to deal with intricate people which are a good lesson to be learned for my potential achievements. Being a coordinator will develop my people handling skills as well as the time management skills and also I also enhanced my prioritization skills .
Study of an ICT Professional Profile:
Description:
I am interested in the profession of Network Administration. Thus the choice of the ICT Professional Profile becomes quite specific for me. I am pursuing Diploma course in IT and I am intended towards a Bachelor’s degree in it with networking as my specialization . There have several areas in IT that I have touched upon namely programming, web designing, hardware, desktop publishing but the one that aspires me the most is networking. So to accomplish it I have chosen the profession of Network Administrator and the profile of Ronnie Brown , Infrastructure manager of Ecolab , MNC which focuses on providing hygiene services and products globally.
Interpretation:
Ronnie Brown is a graduate of Engineering with his specialization in Mechatronics . His very first job was at Yellow pages were he was recruited as an Assistant Systems Administrator. There after he worked in number companies at different positions some amongst them very temporary and lastly he has been presented the current position which is a full time job. As from the very starting of his carrier he has worked at innumerable places and also at several potions he has a lot of practical experience with himself. This accounts as the major factor for the success that he has achieved so far. The important fact is that he had always focused on learning and it is this aspiration of his which has kept him equipped with the latest information of his field Moreover he has outstanding logical skills as well as good interpersonal skills which according to him are the factors for his success.
Outcome:
The profile of Ronnie Brown visibly provides the reasons of being successful in my preferred career path. It clearly showcases that gaining the fundamental qualification in any field is not an essential step towards success what is essential is that you should have an ability to learn continuously , ability to adjust in different working environments, develop interpersonal skills , and to acquire as much practical experience as you can . Thus the lesson which I learned from this profile is that my current qualifications are not enough and I have to bestow more time towards developing the above mentioned skill set.
Inspirations from an ICT Visionary:
Description:
A visionary is one person who has an everlasting impact on the lives of many that are there with him and maybe even more for the people that shall follow him. An ICT visionary is one who has an impact on the way information technology has become more important and useful for the current and future populations. There have been a lot of individuals that have had an effect on the lives of the people. A great visionary was Steve Jobs, the co founder of Apple. He is my favorite visionary and this is the reason why i choose him. He helped change the way we live and work and do a lot of other things. Hence he is my ICT prophet.
Interpretation:
Steve Jobs was a person who started off as an individual with the same problems that hamper a lot of us today. He has issues in hi child hood and was a college drop out. In spite of all these challenges he never lost hope. And it was this die hard attitude and his raw talent that allowed him to become the great man that all of us know today. He had been interested in the field of technology since his childhood days and it was this spark that forced him to pursue his dreams and made him into the technology pioneer.
Jobs incessantly gave his mind into future thinking and researches which in turn made him successful on several inventions. He was never just satisfied from one achievement but wanted to keep on developing new and new inventions. He also took up several high-level responsibilities in leading IT companies in the world. Until his death in 2011, he could not be prevented from innovations.

The Steve jobs story is one that is full of inspirations and which is the basis in which a member of any industry can base his own inspiration upon. Each individual is born with some talent or the other and the story of Steve Jobs makes everyone think that they can achieve greatness if they are dedicated towards it. The legend of Steve Jobs inspired me to find my own talents and use them to develop my skills to achieve success in my career field. Interests, Skills and Self-Analysis:
Description:
There were two separate modules which had to be completed compulsorily to complete the portfolio and they are:
1. Self Understanding Modules 1
2. Self Understanding Modules 2
These two modules helped the students to self understand their own skills and interests. Completion of these modules will help students to have a clear idea of themselves and probably many things they may have never realized.
Interpretation:
The process of learning for these particular modules was to designed to help the students to self realize themselves and to make the required self analysis. There were a few resources which helped the students to understand themselves a little better.
The module 1 introduces what interests are, tips for setting personal goals and what influences these goals. The personal interests of an individual also have a lot of affect on the success of the individual when it comes to their career. Also the interest of an individual can also have an impact on how they face an unexpected situation.
The second module understands one’s values, vocational interests, skill assessment and skill types. The models utilized to describe the topics give an exceedingly clear idea on vocational interests. This also describes how one’s skill categories affect their career.
Outcome:
The learning from these resources was something that i could relate to quite easily and the quizzes were something that I could attempt and successfully complete. They helped me to understand my actual interests and skills and ascertain the basis on which they shall influence my career. I found out that I my skill sets include analytical thinking ability and an interest in working in a team environment. The various skill sets which i became aware of shall help me to be successful in my preferred career path. And the two skill sets that I have understood after this module shall help me to better understand my career and shall help me to pay special attention to myself.

This module is another of the various modules that have to be formed to make sure that the student completes their semester and to make sure that the student is aware about what the future career path may hold. This particular module has been designed to help the students to understand the important characteristics for their past, present and future career option.
Interpretation:
The module is formed to make sure that the students get the way the actual work environment functions. The way things are done in the real world and how the various myths and legends about the work life are true or not. Finally it gives students the opinions in finding up to date information which will help them in the development of their career.
Outcome:
This module was a different from the first to modules as this particular module made me realize the importance of being aware of the general business surroundings. The importance of this is stated in the fact that it is absolutely necessary to make sure that one is in tune with the general and current trends in the business world to be able to create a more successful career path for themselves. The module helped me to understand the legends and the myths that surround the business world and decipher which of them are true or not.
Conclusion:
Writing a reflection on the things that I have done over the past few weeks and how I have performed in this semester was itself a new and enriching experience. This form of writing is something that I have never done before and this in itself can be termed as a challenge for me. When I thought about the reflections essay I believed it would be something that can be easily written and finished off in a few hours time, but then staring at the blank screen a few hours later I realized that it is not an easy task and this itself was a learning experience. Finally the learning that I received from my tutor shall in itself help me to grow as an individual and this is possibly a very positive development for me.
