Career Plan and Lifelong Learning
Activities and readings will focus on:
- Individual perception of career;
- Evaluating technical & generic skills;
- Lifelong Learning concepts & impacts;
- Developing and reviewing a career plan (learning plan; balance & rewards; life goals);
- Examples of CVs & what to include & what not to include; review of Careers Unit guide;
- Review progress on Pebblepad webfolios;
WEEK 3: commencing 12th March 2012
Key concepts for the team projects
Activities will focus on:
- Background for the project and key concepts: corporate social responsibility (CSR); seed funding; ethics; team management;
- How organisations approach their corporate responsibility and how they manage the balance between profitability and corporate social responsibility (CSR), drawing on CSR articles and organisation websites.
- Problem solving techniques – mind mapping & Duncker diagram relating to chosen organisation, their stakeholders and problems that could be addressed via a CSR initiative.
- Team formation and team meetings to discuss the team based project and commence research for the week 2 presentation: Assessment 3A (1).
WEEK 4: commencing 19th March 2012
Assessment 3A: (1) ORAL PROJECT REPORT DUE
Team based projects & starting the business plan
Activities and readings will focus on:
- Assessment 3A (1) 5 min Oral Project report.
- Developing entrepreneurial responses to changing markets, and customer and community expectations
- Business Decision Making – finding and using multiple resources on business planning
- Different approaches to developing a business plan; key elements of a business plan
- How to write clear and measurable aims and objectives using SMART criteria
- Individuals showcasing Pebblepad webfolio to class & discuss how to share with lecturer electronically
WEEK 5: commencing 26th March 2012
Assessment 1: PEBBLEPAD WEBFOLIO DUE
Commencing your feasibility analysis
Activities and readings will focus on:
- How to structure your Business Concept Plan
- Preparing and documenting a feasibility analysis;
- Developing narrative paragraphs on individual team member strengths and skills;
- Developing annotated bibliographies for team project
- Project team meeting to develop feasibility analysis and agree on the processes for finalising plan
- Team meetings to discuss the team based project. Refining Aim and Objectives in preparation for Assessment 3A (2)
WEEK 6: commencing 2nd of April 2012
Assessment 3A: (2) ORAL PROJECT REPORT DUE
Continuing your feasibility analysis
Activities and readings will focus on:
- Assessment 3A (2) 5 min Oral Project report.
- How to conduct a SWOT analysis – identify key issues emanating from SWOT
- How to conduct a market analysis as part of your feasibility analysis
- Financial projections – researching and estimating income and costs
- Project team meetings to continue your feasibility analysis for your business proposal

ASSESSMENT 1: THE PROJECT TEAM
The project team working on the CSL project includes six members; the project manager, portfolio managers for marketing and finance, functional manager, operation manager, a seller and a vendor. The experience and capabilities of each person have been stated below:
- The Project Manager:
i. Qualification:
(1) Post Graduate with specialization in M.Sc (Bio Sciences),Ph. D Nutrition,

- The Portfolio Manager – Finance
i) Qualification:
(1) Educated in B.com, MBA with specialization in Finance
(2) Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills
(3) Self-motivated and motivates the team in performance of the assigned task
(4) Excellent knowledge in working on MS office and Tally for preparing financial database.
(5) Experienced and well-versed knowledge of accounts such as GL Reconciliation
ii) Experience:
(1) Financial background with experience in CMM level five industry
(2) Understanding the needs of the targeted customer (low earners) & calculating the finances in meeting those requirements
(3) Extensive knowledge and experience in business modeling and forecasting; is actively involved in directing the team members in achieving the set target within the given financial assistance.
(4) Approachable by the team and manages the administration and operational skills associated with finance portfolio
- Portfolio Manager – Marketing
i) Qualifications:
(1) Educated in B.com, MBA with specialization in Marketing
(2) Good communication skills with efficiency in computers
(3) Innovative thinking in having the product reach the targeted customers
(4) High degree record of achieving result oriented work
(5) Commercially strong in producing ad campaigns for the product
ii) Experience:
(1) Knowledge of the product to be marketed and also planning the schemes for the same
(2) Understanding the changes in the market and also the minds of the customers
(3) Ability to build relationships between the customers and suppliers
(4) Developing marketing strategies required for the project with flair in product promotion from past 4 years
(5) Successful to an extent in reducing sales obstacles in the market through innovative and creative ideas
(6) Good influencing skills in a way to convince the customers into buying product and giving them required knowledge of the product
- Functional Manager
i) Qualification:
(1) B. Pharma and PGDM – Marketing
(2) Specialization in medicine & drug preparation
(3) English and local language skills
(4) Liaison with the advertising and marketing agencies
(5) Initiative with CSL products
ii) Experience:
(1) Efficient in brand building from 3 years with 6 months experience in brand promotion
(2) Advertising the product by preparing attractive hoardings in attracting the customers
(3) Have the knowledge of go to marketing and media channels for CSL
(4) Good in selling the brand with the advertisers
- Operational Manager
i) Qualification:
(1) Graduate and MBA in marketing, from a good business school
(2) Customer centric attitude in targeting the real customers
(3) Good communication and networking skills
(4) Very innovative in having the product reach the targeted customers
(5) Researching the market for the perfect clients to sell the CSL products
ii) Experience:
(1) Assisting in market research in different circles for competitor analysis.
