SOCIOLOGY IN AUSTRALIA

Is Australia a Classless Society?

Introduction

Australia is mainly a multicultural and multisocietal kind of country. Everyone can express whatever they want and they have full rights to do anything that they want to practice or do here. Business men have flourished out here because of the good nature of the government and the people altogether. People come from all quarters of the country and that is also one of the main reasons why Australia is called a classless society. People are free to practice any religion and any caste and no one does discriminate anyone on the basis of caste and creed. In a country which is economically more viable and more feasible for the local people, it has grown in strength from time to time so that it overshadows all its limitations which it has got in the recent times. As per Raspel(2004), there are some problems in terms of violence of outsiders but apart from it one cannot witness anything more than that. That is the main reason why we call Australia good and living destination for a lot of people.

Australia is mainly a capitalist kind of societywhere the private players are competitive in nature and the means of productionare totally governedby them. They are solely responsible for making profits and there is lessflow of cash inside it. People have their word to sayand the government eases norms for private players to set their stage and make their presence felt and local levels. It is only with the help of t that people are able to govern andtheir is prosperity in the country atall times. As per Russell(2008), australia ismainly such kind of country where the profits are being booked and the main reason for it is their capitalist kind of economy. Thus they are governing wellby the Karl Marx theory of Capitalism at all times. Australia is also governed by Max Weber theory of sociology. Since Australia is a multi-cultural and multi religion based country there are a lot of things that are being governed by the social theories like that of how people from one country react to other and how their decisions are being taken up by other. Thus we can easily understand the nature and scope of how people would be reacting to different situations andhere is where we are able to see Webber’s theory being placed.

Jacobsan(1988) says that Australia enjoys the reputation of being termed as a classless society because they are prone to all kindsof religions. There is no caste that people find out their and the main reason is their capitalistic and socialistic approaches towards the society. All are free in their land andno one is worried with what would be going to happen if something goes wrong withanother person. Allare being united as a one single army andthat is why this country has grown to great heights in the past few years. It is now one of the most developed nations of the world and this would make Australia proud from all the angles.

Societies in Australia

A lot of research work has gone in it and we have found out that there are some people who feel that there are societies and classes which exist in Australia. Different sets of people who come down to Australia have divided themselves into different groups and these groups are lower class, middle class and upper class. As per the study, more than 50 per cent of the population belong to the middle class and20 per cent belong to lower class and rest all belong to the upper class. Rosenberg (2009) says that Australia is having multi cultured people. Religions like Christians are famous and apart from it Hinduism, Islam, Buddhismand other nation’s religions are also common in the area. That iswhat we call Australia as a country which gives shelter to all kinds of people irrespective of their ethnicity, caste and creed. Major population belongs to Christians andthey are the ones who dominate the society in the best possible way. Apart from it there are a lot of Jews who are residing there andtheir population is also considerable. Hindus are also a common lot as a lot of students come from India and other Asian countries and settle their after their education. Hence we have to understand that there are a lot of religions that are being practiced in and out of Australia. People are free to take any religion and practice any religion that they want. They are not forced to do any work and their religious sentiments are intact with each other. Hence, we can say that Australia can be called as a classless society. People come open in any sort of functions and openly celebrate with one another. There is no sort of discrimination in any way with these people andit is only with the help of these people that Australia is able to grow more in the last few years. People respect each other’s culture and traditions andthey understand them in their own way. Davinson(1999) witnessed that we have not heard about any sort of classes that have gone in Australia. That is what we call Australia as a society which has grown well with Capitalistic and socialistic mind-set and viewpoint.

We have to make very good adjustments with them and we have to move up the ladder with each passing day so that this kind of cultural sentiments grow more up in order. The capitalistic kinds of movements are very well understoodin the country and there is more production forces which are going on in the country. People are looking forward for more business ventures with the rest of the world and their dollar value is also increasing because of increase of their exports. Thus in all the capitalist and the socialistic view point is very much going strong and the people are also very well attuned with the sentiments of the country.

Socio Economic Status

The socio economic status of Australia is well known to the people. They are very well mixed up with the local tribe and therearea lot of developments that are happening in the country because of it. As per Ronald Frendersons (1968)framework, the poor are getting equal share of money and there are enough benefits that are being given to them at times. Some of them mainly include baby bonus schemes for which they are being paid AUD 540 whenever there is a baby that is born. Apart from it there are also unemployment benefits that are being given to the people. Thus the poor are not getting that much hurt by the policies andprinciples of the land. They are working hard so that the ends meet up andthere is enough spirit in them. As far as stratifications are being concerned, there is less stratification in terms of people.

There is no sort of religious hindrances that are coming in the way and there are people who respecteach other’ssentiments in a good way. We have to make sure that people are satisfied with their own people and this can only be possible if there is god governance andgood educations system that is being given to the local masses. The means of production as proposed by Karl Marx are exactly placed in order with a combined view point of capitalistic and socialistic parts being take into consideration. It is only with the help of these forces that Australia is now inching closer to besome one of the best known countries of the world where people would come to stay and develop their findings in the best possible way. Mechanical solidarity is not that commonly found in Australia. In other words, people are free to choose any sort of work that they wish to do and they are not bounded by just one such work or what their family is following for centuries. They are mainly prone by organic solidarity wherein they have their mind-set andtheir wish to do any sort of work or practice anythingthat they want to do. Hence, this is one of the significant developments in Australia. Thus, if a father is a mechanic it is not necessary in Australia that his son would also be a mechanic. He can peruse any sort of career profession that he wishes to have.

Thus the socio economic status of Australia is not just limited to just one a particular thing. There are a lot of career choices that are present their and a lot of things that people can follow in the due course of time. The cultures of the people arelinked with each other and the main culture that is being linked is the Australian culture. People do not see the economic statusof thepeople and they tend to respect each their religion in the best possible way. This mainly brings a lot of joy in people andthey areable to be happy and satisfied.

Conclusion

We have now got to know with the help of the above arguments as to whetherAustralia is a classless society or not. Definitely not would be my answer. There are different religious groups and different economic societies that are their but no one is able to judge if there is any sort of caste system that is being placed there. People are free to mingle with any persona and this is the main joy that is present with all of them. Stuart Hirst (1999) says that there is no dirt of caste which is present in Australia and that is being proven by the amount of people who are constantly migration to Australia as the day goes on. The cultures andtraditions of the people of Australia are very good enough. There is great appreciation of the fact that people are respecting each other and they are celebrating each other joys and sorrows in agood way. Hence, we can easily say that Australia is definitely a classless society and it is mainly a society where all castes of the society meet and stay together. It is a multicultural and multi ethnic kind of society and people love to stay in this country.
