Stress can be studied under the context of biology and it is known as a resultant of the failure that the human body faces because of the collapse of the capability to withstand external forces that the upcoming tasks or the works assure. This force is then referred to as stress, causing a state of unrest which further leads to a state of alarm and a rush of adrenaline. Stress can be understood as the strain that one faces on the mind and the body and therefore can be judged upon the two important binaries that is the Physiological and the Psychological Stress. The psychological stress is the one which causes the emotional stressors in a human being. The symptoms can be depression, the long crying spells, the anxious behaviour, isolation and the inability to finish tasks. The physiological stress is the one that is caused by the threat that is there for the physical strength of a body (Lazarus, R, 1993). The common symptoms are severe and frequent headaches, the digestive problems, skin problems and dizziness etc.
The practical work would effectively ensure the difference between the mechanisms that follow both the stressors. The explanation to the working of the ELISA enzyme can be sought through the practical. The two phases for the practical Week 1 and the Week 2 would guide the progress of the exercise. The four students test the physical stressors, the psychological stressors and one of the students would be recording the responses and thus remain involved in finding out the correct conclusions. The recordings can be based upon Tc, GSR, HR, BP and CORT. The baseline measurements would then have the collected saliva of the students at different time intervals and thus the stress rate could be deduced. The week 2 practical session would indulge in analysing the cortisol concentrations in the collected saliva using the ELISA enzyme. The final interpretation can only be made post practical sessions. The activation of the HPA axis can be seen as the reason that increased the concentration of blood cortisol and that can be treated as the general assumption through the experiment ((Quindry, J 2012)).
