The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s largest and powerful particle accelerator which is located in Geneva, Switzerland. This huge international construction project is a collaborative effort of European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), which has been constructed with an investment of approximately $ 10 billion just for LHC’s design and construction.
But when this particle accelerator was put to test on March 27, 2007 for particle testing, LHC came up with serious failure due to a simple engineering error in the final stage. All the billions of dollars invested in the project and sixteen years of time proved to be unsuccessful during one of the stress tests. - The 35-ton magnet lifted from its base because of the structure getting lost.
- Helium Gas started leaking in the underground tunnel
