This assignment is to discover the basic concept of electronic amplifiers and build up the basic skill of
electronic fault-finding and electronic design. Students are to understand the electronic product
development cycle. All information in logbook can be used for this assignment. All of circuit diagrams
and printed circuit  board(PCB) layouts, which were created by students themselves during the class
exercise, can be copied and pasted to this assignment. The mark system can be referred at Bachelor
of Applied Technology Student Manual. This assignment has full score of 50.
This assignment should match all requirements as described as below:
Part one : 5 points
An introduction to pre-amplifier
Part two : 30 points
Design an electronic pre-amplifier using an Integrated Circuit(IC LM833):
• A circuit diagram should be designed using Protel DXP.
• PCB layout using Protel DXP
• A pre-designed PCB is available in lab. You should collect all parts from technicians and
assemble all the parts at PCB then test it using function generator and oscilloscope. A photo
of the circuit assembles using PCB and test equipment including function generator and
oscilloscope.
• Discuss fault-finding process for the manufacture
• Discuss fault-finding process for the post scale service
Part three : 10 points
Conclusion : Conclude with your experiment results. Brief introduces an electronic development
cycle.
Part four : 5 points

SOLUTION

PART-1.

A preamplifier is a circuit that is designed to amplify voltage of a small signal,rather then current.It is used before power amplifier circuits.It is for low noise ,when connecting to circuit it increases signal strength without increasing noise.So that Signal to noise ratio is not degraded.The Signal to noise ratio of final signal is found by using input signal and noise figure of preamplifier.
Preamplifier are used before sensors as microphone ,music instruments etc. to first amplifiy voltage of signal without introducing noise.
Part.2.1.A  preamplifier circuit is given below–

2.2A protel DXP file is attatched with this assignment.

2.3A function generator and oscilloscope pins are connected .Function generator gives input signal at pin 3.which can be viewed on oscilloscope by connecting it to A pins of oscilloscope.Output can be seen on oscllioscope on B pins by connecting them to output pin 1.
The circuit is a typical circuit.A pcb will be given to students by lab technicians in which they have to connect the ICLM833.

2.4,5-Fault finding process fo the manufacture and post scale service will be given as a part of software protel DXP.

3.Part-3—Conclusion—The reports can be seen on software by opening given protel DXP file in software.

The design is prepared in Multisim 11.And PCB layout is saved in protel DXP formet.Some parts are virtual but students have to work on parts given in lab.Connection method is given according to question.
