QUESTION
here are the detail about the assignment –
SMART Goals and Self-Leadership Goals
In the final week of your orientation course, you were asked to produce an assignment involving your personal goals for your chosen program. In this assignment, you will build and extend your learning by setting SMART goals and integrating self-leadership into your goal setting. According to Fowler, Blanchard, and Hawkins in Self-leadership and the One Minute Manager, a self-leader is a person who “can take the initiative to get what they need to be successful…”
Write, in 500-750 words, three relevant personal, educational, or professional goals for yourself (one each). Make sure they follow the concepts of SMART goals. Identify your developmental level for each of these goals and explain why you think you are a D1, D2, D3 or D4 for each of these goals. In crafting your response, consider the following:
1) What is your current skill level? What skills do you believe you will require being successful? What job requirements do you believe represent your greatest challenge?
2) Who will you require to help you and how will you secure their help? For example, if your program has some higher level math or statistics (e.g., accounting or finance) do you expect that you will require additional help? If so, what can you start doing now to help secure that help in advance?
Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
SOLUTION
SMART Goals
SMART goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound objectives set by an individual or a group. I have set following three SMART goals, one each for my personal, educational and professional purposes.
- To be more punctual – Personal SMART goal
- To bring my inbox to zero unread mails – Educational SMART goal
- Clear my CPA by the time I am 22 years old – Professional SMART goal
Details of my SMART goals are as follows:
Specific
I will try to be more punctual by reaching fifteen minutes early for my compulsive deeds like classes, meetings, workshops etc. They are very crucial from personal as well as academic perspective. Generally I have five to seven deeds on daily basis.
Daily I get at least a dozen of forwarded mails from academics@nsw.edu account. I will try to clear out and streamline my Gmail inbox. I will systematically clean my inbox and will also build a to-do system.
I have set an objective to clear my CPA and become a successful accountant by the age of 22 years.
Measurable
To attain my objectives I will develop a practise of making a list all important deeds that I have to attend on daily basis. This will ping me about the things that I have to attend. This list will also act as checklist through which I will keep a check on my punctuality. I will note down whether I was on time or not, in case I was late what was the reason behind the same.
To attain the objective of cleaning my mail box, I will develop a habit of checking my mails daily for fifteen minutes while talking on phone or any such kind of activity.
In order to measure my progress I will try to take minimum one practise paper comprising of 50 questions on every Sunday.
Attainable
Reaching fifteen minutes early even on time for every assignment is not possible. For this reason, i have set an objective to be punctual for 80% of engagements. Attaining this goal is very important to become a good student and a responsible team member.
Cleaning my inbox to zero unread mails is again not possible on daily basis. Thus I have created one weekly program to check that I facilitate what comes into my inbox, and to make sure that I’m taking action on each message efficiently.
I have to study at least three hours every night every week. I am giving myself one night off every week. I will create flash cards for the topic in which I think I need to put in some extra efforts. I will keep a log of all of the questions that I missed.
Relevant
Punctuality and productivity are important skills to master. In order to become more arranged and responsible, I have to handle this habit of getting late. I really feel very embarrassed when every time I have to ask for an apology from everyone for being late.
Many times I miss important and crucial emails because of a bloated email inbox. Thus developing a habit of checking emails on daily basis is quite essential to act on important and urgent emails on proper time.
Every week I will study for at least 25 hours. During the weekday, I will spend three hours on study and on weekends the study hours will stretch to 13 hours. However just to recreate myself, I am giving maximum two hours to surf internet on weekends only.
Time-bound
I have set the target to achieve the goals of punctuality and clear inbox by the end of this semester.
Just to avoid boring and penniless summers and springs I have decided to complete my CPA by the age of 22 years.
