After the evaluation of Peterson & Seligman Values in Action Survey, it can be said that there are five personal strengths in myself such as Kindness, Gratitude, Teamwork, Spirituality and Bravery. Kindness is considered as the state or act of being kind and being marked by the charitable and good behavior, concern and pleasant disposition for others. Gratitude is the emotion, attitude or feeling in the acknowledgment of the benefit which one has attained or shall receive (Benneworth, 2007). Teamwork is the action executed by the team towards the achievement of the common goal. Spirituality is considered as the source of the orientation or inspiration in life. Bravery is considered as the capability to confront pain, uncertainty, danger, fear or intimidation. Out of these my five strengths, my main strength is Teamwork and the concept analysis has been done on that.
It is examined that Values in Action Survey is considered as psychological evaluation measure which is made to investigate the individual profile of the character strengths (Jongbloed, Enders & Salerno, 2007). Feedback from Multiple Sources
According to the Peterson & Seligman, 2004, I have analyzed my five strengths such as Bravery, Kindness, Spirituality, Teamwork and Gratitude. After attaining the feedback from the multiple sources, I have realized that spirituality provides me an appreciation of the excellence, spirituality, hope and humor. Courage is the strength which offers me a support to achieve a particular task without any fear throughout a certain period of time. Feedback from multiple sources helps me in evaluating my strengths completely. Concept Analysis
In a team, accountability is divided between each member as per the time and expertise available (Amit & Schoemaker, 1993). Teamwork is the action executed by the team towards the common goal. The team comprises of more than one person and each of them has distinct responsibilities. The team comprises seven general components such as general purpose, interdependence, clear contributions and roles, satisfaction from the mutual working, individual and mutual accountability empowerment and realization of the synergies. The team permits the people to execute well in the region in which they have expertise. The good team creates closeness in its members (Boselie, Paauwe,& Jansen, 2001).
Advantages of Teamwork
Offers better end result with great quality of performance from each member of team.
- Team indulges every person and his responsibilities and expertise.
- Execution of innovative ideas which are efficient and effective
- It enhances ownership with the wider communication.
- Shares information and enhances learning in team and in entire organization.
- Offers more security and forms personal association in context of the business operations.
- Teamwork enhances willingness of each member to take more risk.
- People may share common interests and goals among others. It is simpler to investigate the obstacles and search several solutions. The team may handle more complex and difficult obstacles in the working environment.
- Teamwork may enhance the accuracy of the problem solving. With the help of teamwork, for a single problem company gets various solutions and they may be solved quickly.
Consequences and Outcomes
This strength also refers some negative features of the teamwork, namely the probability of the enhanced pace of the work and resulting higher risk of the health problems and greater workload. If demands are enhanced and team are not offered with direction and necessary scope for decision making and control, it is probably that workers would experience greater levels of work pressure and stress (Fontes & Coombs, 2001). In any kind of project, a set of people has to coordinate together. It is significant to have teamwork which can execute successfully all tasks comprising the project. Searching of a good team is not simple, because a great number of reasons have to be taken into consideration (Boselie, Paauwe, & Jansen, 2001). Performance of the team may be evaluated by making the model through which execution and performance could be measured.
Cultivating Personal Strength Plan
After evaluation of my five personal strengths, I have made a plan how to utilize these five strengths over a three month period. I have decided, to start a new business with the help of these strengths I would be able to achieve the same.
Teamwork: Through teamwork, I will try to attain the common goal with the help of other people (Huber, 1991). Teamwork helps me in having different ideas and suggestions because of various people involved in a group. This kind of my strength helps me in handling difficult problems in the working environment. Teamwork helps me in creating a plan for the initiation of the new business.
Spirituality: Spirituality offers me a hope to achieve goal and objective in a stipulated period of time. Spirituality gives me an inspiration to achieve a particular task throughout a certain period of time.
Kindness: Kindness offers me a humanity, which helps me while working in a team and a group. With the help of this strength I can show love and respect to others (Flagg, 2002). While working in a team, it is important to have kindness in order to avert any kind of disputes.
Courage: Courage offers me a support to achieve a specific task within a given period of time without any fear. Courage is the strength which motivates me while working in a team or group.
Gratitude: Gratitude offers me the emotion, attitude or feeling in the acknowledgment of the benefit which one has attained or shall receive (Boxall, 1996).
