There are several diversities of people all across the globe who works in an organization by following a single corporate culture. It is also attached with concepts related to monochronic and polychromic. Monochronic culture states the individuals are introvert in nature, like to maintain high level of privacy, works only for fixed hours, punctual, is job oriented, fixes agenda, accepts favor reluctantly, delegates work to others, focuses on communication process. The polychromic culture states that individuals are talkative in nature, extrovert, gregarious, impatient, believes in mixing the systems, people oriented, seeks favor from others, and believes to apply flexible approach. The value system of an organization is being influenced by the diverse individuals who work together for achieving common goal of an organization. The difference of culture needs to be understood by management of an organization to enhance productivity by promoting peace and unity. According to Greek Hofstede culture includes levels such as rituals to greet others, heroes for influencing and inspiring others and symbols for attaching a special meaning to things (Value Based Management Net 2013).
Form an organizational context power distance can be explained as willingingness among employees to accept status by respecting the hierarchy. The power distance which being highlighted on large scale basic includes characteristics such as autocratic leadership which differentiates culture from others in an organization, centralized process of management, and multiple levels of hierarchy. The high level of power distance results in class related conflicts by differentiating workers and management. The low power distance includes decentralized process of authority, participative style of management, flat structures of organization, lack of acceptance. The low power distance relates to autonomy at workplace and reward system. For examples high power distance is being observed in countries such as Indonesia and low power distance is found in counties such as Sweden. The individualism vs. Collectivism is the second dimension being proposed by Hofstede which states that individuals must look after themselves and their families. Whereas collectivism states people like to love in groups and societies from their birth by being bold in nature (International Conference of Journal and Management 2011). This dimension states that before involving into relationship the profits and loss are being calculated, focus on most loved people, individual focusing upon needs, goals and their desires and valuing interdependency. The collectivist approach states that group based interest are being considered by sacrificing personal interest. The examples of high individualist culture are found in United States and collectivist culture is being found in Mexico. The third dimension includes Masculinity/femininity which explains that genders roles must be clear and distinct in nature. It is being supposed that males are assertive and tough in their nature and attitude. The females are supposed to be soft in nature and believe in living quality life. It is being considered that male personalities are clear in their approach and believe in competition (Mind Tools Ltd 2013). The females are supposed to carry out the home based and organizational responsibilities in an effective manner. The examples of masculine culture are represented at Japan whereas the feminine culture is being represented by Thailand. The dimension of uncertainty avoidance is related with confusion and risky aspects. It is basically determining structured and unstructured organizational structures. The strong uncertainty avoidance states that many rules and regulations to be followed, lack of tolerance, need for consensus, and high respect for authority. The weak uncertainty avoidance states that culture is unable to handle the risk, difference in opinions and behaviors, and few rules and regulations. The high uncertainty avoidance is found in France based organization and low uncertainty avoidance is being found in Hong Kong. The last dimension is related to short term vs. long term goals which shows emphasis on value system and organizational performance. The long term oriented culture is found in Korea whereas short term oriented culture is found in United States (Al-Olayan, F. S. and K. Karande 2000).
