The essay highlights a location reflecting its significant history. The location which is discussed in this essay is Alamo – Texas. The Alamo is not only referred to as one of the historical landmarks situated in Texas but is also known as one of the favorite attractions for the tourists. The building which was popularly known in the Texas Revolution was built in the year 1718. Today, Alamo is owned and controlled by the State of Texas and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas respectively. The Alamo is located at 300 Alamo Plaza in San Antonio (Tinkle, 1985).
Since its inception, Alamo has been referred to as a home of missionaries & the Indian clandestine for the past seventy years as of now. The fighters or the warriors have been referring the old mission as the Alamo (Spanish word) so as to provide an honor to Alamo de Parras. The Alamo was considered as a shelter place of revolutionaries & royalists at the time of their struggling years (Edmondson, 2000). In the battle field, more than 150 Texans were died including some of the famous hero’s i.e. Jim Bowie, William Travis, etc.
The importance of Alamo can be seen with respect to the “Battle of Alamo” which is marked as a pivotal event within the Texas Revolution. The battle of Alamo turned out to be a thirteen day affair where in the Mexican troops under the presidency of Santa Anna launched an assault near San Antonia de Bexar (Benett, 1904). All the Texan protectors were dead. San Antonio & Alamo played a very important role in the Texan Revolution.

Alamo was regarded as a rallying cry of a political environment which helped the Texans to fight against the Mexican Army. The independence of Texas was taken into consideration as a foundation to enter the Union. The admission of Texas into the union led to a battle between Mexico & States (United States of America). After the battle was over, Mexico was taken up by the Treaty of Guadalupe so as to give it to States. This area presently comprises of the following parts i.e. New Mexico, Arizona and California (Barr, 1990). The union which was prevented from splitting led to high levels of gains which were coupled with various types of resources such as annexation of the Texas, Mexican Cessations, Louisiana Purchase and the settlement of Oregon questions led United States of America to enter the path of world power. The Battle of Alamo has become of the most known patriotic sacrifice in the history of Texans & Americans.The facts regarding Alamo continues to be debated but there is no doubt regarding what the battle has to symbolize. People all across the globe remember Alamo as one of the heroic spots against all the odds. It has been symbolized as a place where the men made ultimate struggle for freedom. This is the reason why, Alamo remains a sacred ground along the Shrine of Texas Liberty (Benett, 1904).
