DALY’s stands for total burden or diseases which can be considered as a process of measuring the gap between ideal health and current health situation. The DALY’s are being used by health planners and policy makers such as world Bank and WHO for quantifying level of burden of disease being faced by human. The sum total of DALY is equal to YLD+YLL where YLD stands for lost of years due to disability and YLL stands for loss of Life. It is being chosen for fulfilling the three aspects such as calculating the time being lost because of premature mortality, identifying the current epidemiological trends and quantifying the incidence. The understanding of burden of disease and injury indicates that in the young age group is valued more as compared to the older and child age because in this age group social contribution can be made more for growing the overall economy. It is stated that at the child age investment is being made very little and at old age group the return from invest is already taken. In such case, at young age there is high level of investment being made which can benefit the society. It is basically associated with mortality and ill health. It is being stated that DALY’s high preference is being given to death factor which does not reflect that human should take care regarding safe drinking water and nutrition (Population Services International 2010). Right now DALY is dealing to prevent human from future related diseases by identifying new preventive techniques which can help in saving the human life. At times it is also associated with several types of disorders which are being faced by people for longer period of time. The DALY also highlights people who have less value for life due to disabilities as compared to the healthy people in society. The understanding of burden related to disease can improve patient’s life styles and life experiences by getting discharged from acute care with support of proper and timely treatment. It can be explained with an example such as if a female is suffering from diarrhea in such situation she cannot go to market for selling the vegetables, but if a personal is suffering from HIV is such case he or she can go to any place. The difference between fatal and not fatal disease needs to be understood before implementing any kind of treatment. Thus DALY is one of the favored approach which can be applied for addressing the problems related to diseases and ill health which affects overall life of human.
