The main theme of the article is to come up with the major scenarios and criticality that may arise while learning the second language at later stage of age. It is very easy to understand and learn the primary language at lower age but as one grows and when there is a need of learning of secondary language for some purposes like while getting education, higher education, jobs, business or anything (Johnson & Newport, 1989). Then it is required to have knowledge of second language, but it becomes tough for the people at higher ages mostly after 17-20 years to adopt or learn second language effectively. There have been various studies done on this aspect of second language acquisition but still there are lots of unanswered questions which are lying behind this phenomenon or process. Here in this article, the hypothesis testing is done on a population and it is found that there are a lot of problems while learning second language acquisition at late stage. The problem starts after the age of 17 years and after 20 years of age it becomes very typical for the people to understand and gain mastery on the second language. Although the people may have a good command on verbal skills but they will be facing a lot of issues and criticality while learning the second language at later stage (White & Genesee, 1996). To have an excellent verbal skill will be an add-on benefit for the second language learners.

Critical Review

There are various aspects where the study was not very much effective in its hypothesis and methodologies like the study was done based on the Hypothesis testing study and no any empirical study is being conducted to support the hypothesis. The results says that the adults cannot rely on intrinsic learning process for the second language acquisition but they need to rely on the alternate mechanics i.e. problem solving mechanism. But this is not the actual scenarios; we cannot just make an assumption after going through a hypothesis testing with some bunch of people.

According to the study, it is required to have an excellent command over the verbal skills to learn the second language but there is no such hard and fast rules described or defined in earlier studies. So it may be a biased or wrong result that is being derived from this study.

No empirical study was done to support the hypothesis that reflects that the study was not accurate and much effective for the massive people. A small sample was taken for the test which may result as inaccurate and biased result of the test.

These are the various criticisms which may deny the effectiveness of the findings of the study and there may be requirement of new study for the future aspects and for the accuracy of study and result.
