William, R, 1978, MIS Quarterly, Evaluating management information systems, Vol. 2, pp. 43 – 51
The MIS, which is, implemented in the organization, should be evaluated at regular intervals so that the MIS can match the changing needs of the environment. A MIS which was designed years ago cannot be used now because the needs of the business and environment are changing continuously. To set up a management information system in the organization, the attitudes and the value perceptions of the employees, management and customer should be assessed so that the MIS can be designed in such a way that it will be suitable to the people who will be using it. The information usage and the importance of decision performance should also be assessed so that the MIS can be useful for decision making, once it is implemented. A proper evaluation of the MIS should be conducted once it is implemented in the organization. Evaluation would basically include assessing the benefits of MIS implemented, the competitor’s MIS and the improvement in functions. Once all the things are evaluated then the management team will come up with some or other scope of improvement. The scope of improvement should be possible in the MIS so that the MIS can be a perfect one. When designing a MIS, space for development should always be left open so that improvements can be implemented.
