Projects experiencing communication issues will ultimately get plagued with problems. In a construction project, communication is critical to the people responsible in monitoring the project progress and managing the schedules. Normally, communication caused difficulty in managing and solving critical problems since most of them failed to communicate the problems they faced to the outside team. The managers made decisions and singularly decide on the overall expectations of the project without getting input from other project team members. It created an atmosphere in the project that was ripe for the project to fail.
Sharing data with other team members is critical to the overall organizational performance and every manager or person occupying a decision-making position needs to ensure constant communication before any critical decision is made that affects the lifelines of the project. project team members needs to be aware of the project conditions which is vital in helping them to continue updating various project progress data dynamically and initiate necessary actions to maintain the pace of the project (Du, Zhao, Issa, & Singh, 2020).
How we solved the issue
Review of project status regularly with the whole project team
The project was at a very critical stage and required a cohesive and a tightly knit team so as to ensure successful completion of the project. this led to regular communication and sharing of information before critical decisions are made in the project that affects its lifeline. The management sought information from the team members so as to make accurate decisions. Regular team meetings and regular communication become the norm of management in the project. regular communication and meeting helped the team members to receive updates regarding the project and what is required to be changed in the project in time (Stumpf, Brandstätter, & Borghoff, 2019). As a team member, I become more aware of the project status and I knew my duties and the tasks I am supposed to work at any given time.
Also, the brewing conflict of interest between the management and the project stakeholders was ironed out when the management and the stakeholders started having regular status meetings which created a stable environment for the stakeholders.
Summary
Effective and efficient management in the project requires effective communication. Communication should be maintained in the organization so as to ensure the success of the project and improve the performance level of the team members. If any communication issues are experienced in the project, it is critical that a communication gap should be identified that could be clouding the comprehension of the project team. Initiating a strong communication line in the project greatly helped in salvaging the project I was involved in. communication helped the management to improve the satisfaction levels of stakeholders as well as boosted the morale of other team members.
