(2006)). The agentive theory was first developed by C. T Warner and is based on the existential perspective as it was brought out by Sartre.  This theory is learnt to study that how the negative emotions work in a human psyche and that how people behave negatively when they cannot cope up with the crisis that might come in different relationships. The same can thus be fruitfully used when a person is undergoing any depression or extreme anger over another person (Wayne, W. (2011)). The theory helps in general mental health improvisations, in anger reduction and psychoticism. In a marital conflict usually this theory is applied to understand the degree to which the client might get violent with his/her spouse. Also the major reasons behind the conflict are narrowed down with the help of this theory. With reference to a specific case that recently happened when a lady Martha came to me for help where her husband would get irritated with her too often because he according to him it was Martha only who would take care of the baby as it was him who had to take care of the livelihood. But agentive theory was much applicable in resolving the conflict to an extent because it helped in making Martha’s husband. Here the therapist only acts as an agent in tranquilising the heated up minds betray themselves by morally disconnecting themselves (Anne, R. (2011)). The effect of the agentive theory has been such that the clients seem to feel light and can speak their feelings out rather than hiding their feelings which help in self-deception that only leads to distorted perception of the other.
