Once they think that all the shopping is done then they can check the things in the shopping cart and make the payment and logout. While talking about eCommerce sites, retailers cannot be missed out for sure. Sometime back, every brand had its own online store but today, every online store has all the brands. The retailers prefer to open an online store rather than that of a physical store. The costing of physical store is too high; thus, the revenue earned is reduced automatically. The retailers prefer to tie-up with various brands and get various products to sell at their online store. This is beneficial to the product’s company and the retailer as well (Sherman, 2012).
If a retailer thinks that he can set up an online store and easily make profits then he is completely wrong and it is, merely, impossible. One of the major challenges that eCommerce retailers are facing is the number of competitors. The number of eCommerce retailers is increasing everyday; thus, it is becoming difficult for the prevailing retailers make their presence in the market. Many retailers are using social media as a method of marketing but this method is being used by all others as well and hence, the retailers should come up with something new so that they can be different than that of their competitors (NewMediaAge 2011).
Retailers cannot maintain a personal relationship with people who purchase from online stores. If a person walks into the physical store then the shopper tends to stop and talk to the person at the cash counter or other sales people but there is no space for communication in online shopping. If the customer is having some problem with the goods or even if they like something from the store then this cannot be communicated. The retailer will have to analyze the shopping pattern of the customer to understand them in a better way and there are possibilities that the customer may even try some other way of purchasing goods that they want (Sherman, 2012).
Customers don’t trust the retailers who open a new online store because providing credit card numbers on various websites may lead to security issues. To deal with this, customers prefer to stick to the old website that they trust rather than trying the new one (Gehling, S, 2005).

The retailers are using their strengths to the fullest and at the same time, they are trying hard to reduce the challenges that they have been facing. Retailers are trying to stock all the possible brands that they can think of so that the customer doesn’t look for any other new place to purchase the goods that they like. Apart from that, online websites have started to improve the personal relationship by way of sending emails to their customer so that the customer can get to know about the offers without visiting the online store.
Many retailers are making the best use of online stores so that they can attract customers to their direct store and this is being loved by the customers. They track the email address of the customer by way of online shopping and then they send across discount coupons to customers so that they can walk-in the store to utilize the discount. This is allowing the retailers to increase their sales on the online website as well as their physical stores (NewMediaAge 2011).
To deal with security issues, websites are being designed in such a way that the credit card number is secure and the hackers don’t get to know about it. A first-time shopper can read these things on the website before they go ahead with any particular online shopping website.
ECommerce shopping is the future because the retailers know that they can earn revenue online rather than that of a physical store. The customer can shop at their convenience and at the same time, the customer can also get access to numerous brands and that is, merely, impossible in direct stores. Retailers need to understand that there are many other online retailers and they should try their level best to retain the existing customers. All the various marketing media should be used so that the end-user can get to know about the online store’s existence. There are various challenges that the retailer will have to face but the challenges are worth taking up because of the benefits that they will reap.
