Solutions Proposed::
Purpose of Group
Groups are being formed in order to reach the desired objectives in more effectual manner and in an innovative way. Clear team goals and diversity are the two main factors which lead to formation of successful and high performing groups (Thornton, 2012). The main purpose of the group which comprises mainly of young mothers and older divorced women or widows is to get rid of isolation and lonely feeling, so that they can live in safe and secure atmosphere in the Whit ford Community Centre. Thus the main purpose of group is to provide an excellent forum for discussion and education for the women and seek solutions to the common problems of alienation, loneliness and security (Hepworth, Rooney and Rooney, 2010).
Rules to be Established during Group Contract
When establishing group contracts the rules which need to be followed are:
- Group behaviours which are being expected from each group members and only those group behaviours need to be chosen which are effectual for the group enhancement.
- Procedures for the resolution of group impasses (Gibbs, n.d.).
- Practices for welcoming the new members in the group and educating about the group norms should be established (Cheney, May and Munshi, 2010).
Establishing Relationship between Workers and Groups
Engagement and Assessment are the two steps in change process which eventually help in establishing a relationship between the social workers and the groups. Engagement helps in establishing a professional relationship between the group and the community workers and the social work profession thrives on pre-requisite of relationship and engagement starts with first contact between the workers and the groups.
Assessment involves the process of collecting and organisation of the gathered data as well as information in order to get a true and clear picture of the picture-in-environment situation (Kirst-Ashman and. Hull, 2011). The figure below depicts the methodology for establishing relationship between groups and workers:

Resources Needed to Run a Group
There are many low-cost or free resources which are practically available for helping out the community groups. The resources required for running a community groups are listed in community resources directories. Consulting established referral agencies or service also provide useful sources of information about the resources. There are several service clubs or special organizations in every community be it small or large one which offer various kinds of resources for example the organizations like Eagles Club, Knights of Columbus, Lions, Masonic Lodge, and Rotary International. Most of these organizations help in providing the basic resources to the groups in the communities like they provide money to the community groups for their special programs (Kirst-Ashman and. Hull, 2011).
Making Sure Enough Resources are Available
Through the identification and assessment of the needs of the groups we can make sure that it has enough or sufficient resources available to ruin the group. Thus trying to gain depth and breadth while understanding the needs of the group is important. We need to judge the urgency of need of client and the priority of the group needs. If the agency is unable to supply proper resources we will try to find out the informal resources which mostly the groups overlook. These informal resources cover the friends, family, co-workers, and other people with whom the client has already some kind of relationship (Kirst-Ashman and. Hull, 2011).
Promoting the Group
The group can be promoted through a planned Promotional Session which will include spreading the message of the group through local media, sending flyers and face-to-face conversations. Good promotion means the process of communicating more than facts and it is considered to be a good idea to find a positive solution which should be communicated through following steps:
- Commence with positive solution
- Develop a catchy story
- Inculcate a visual message
- Include an inspiring quotation from a trusted person or a similar person
- Always use simple and plain English
- Do not ever forget to include the call for action
- Identify your organization clearly
- Create a mail or email list
- Get the message out using various channels
- Repeat, repeat and repeat it again (Clear Manual: Community Leadership, Empowerment and Awareness Resources, 2009)
Considerations when planning group activity
The few considerations which should be kept in mind while planning a group activity along with reason are:
- Learn about the Group as there are women of various age and category some are widow and some have kids etc.
- Try to identify their concerns and interest
- Create a safe and accessible activity because fear of unfamiliarity or personal safety will reduce their involvement
- Involve group members in planning activity so that they feel that they are part of the whole process (Clear Manual: Community Leadership, Empowerment and Awareness Resources, 2009)
