7.Level-of-repair policy

10.Trade-off evaluations and analysis
To document adequately and to perform trade-off analysis to support all the logistic support requirement, the following factors are put into consideration.
Reliability and maintainability
They determine jointly the availability of the system. The availability of the system depends on the ratio or ratios between MTTR and MTBF, given by;
The ratio is referred to as maintenance time ratio. The specification of the system availability requirement allows a possible distinct trade-off between the maintainability and reliability. Maintenance time ratio also help in the possible trade-off.
From the ratio, we can evaluate inherent availability equation;

In allocating spare/repair parts, there are considerations which have to be made since different sections need different types of spare parts in terms of quantity and quality.
13.There are specific requirements of spare parts;
a.The duration which the spare/repair parts can last and their reliability during that period
b.The level of stock of spare/repair parts since some may stay in the inventory for long without usage
c.The level of logistics and network needed for the equipment to be used etc.
The contract management ensures that they select the spare/repair parts which will minimize the cost and expenses but give the highest service for the period.

The total number of parts of the subsystem available divide by the total number of parts in the system.
If for example, the supply available requirement is say 0.98, then we have 0.2 supply unavailability.
- Maintenance personnel and their training requirement
a.Functional description personnel and operating instructions personnel for each system. The personnel in this category must display high level of knowledge of data, system capabilities and limitations. These includes system technical operation, alternate and operating modes, step by step manual and turn on procedures for operation. They should also able to check the satisfactorily performance of a system.
b.Equipment and installation personnel. Here the personnel must be able to provide up-to date description of the hardware installed. They must provide set of complete logic or functional flow diagram, set of complete electrical layout, pneumatics, electronics, and hydraulics schematic diagrams. They should also provide information on the system for reordering and reinstallation.
c.Maintenance aid personnel. These personnel must have adequate knowledge on data enabling them to detecting a fault for replacement and for checking the system after the repair.
d.Ready reference documentation personnel. These personnel must have knowledge in proper documentation. These documents gives the information to the technician on the repair areas. The information should be easily available when needed and usable in the area of work.
