INTEGRATED ANALYSIS OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL DIMENSION

QUESTION

Explain the nature of culture; u may select any aspect of culture
Such as language, religion, cultural norms in the society or any cultural dimension

SOLUTION

Language is “a set of symbols shared by a community to communicate meaning and experience” (Jandt, 2004, p147). It cannot be separated from culture and it is through language that we construct and deconstruct our culture, learning who ‘we’ are and who ‘they’ are (Lull, 2000, p139). Language is one of the most important and critical aspect in showcasing the cultural identity and dimension in front of any one. It is one of the powerful mode of communication and exchange of thought from one person to the other. With the help of language we can also transfer our thoughts and aspects to any person and this also shows our cultural and social structure and identity which we show by our language and lingual aspects like symbols and all. Language is like an inherent quality which we get or learn from our surrounding and society. We practice it and as we practice more and more, our concern get more clearer and we could gain mastery in that particular language. But if we talk about the cross cultural consideration we need to understand other languages too hand on hand to understand the other cultural aspects and their point of view. To learn another language is not a big deal but to implement and to understand the cultural aspects of the particular language or being delivered via any language is the main concern and this plays an important role in the cultural dimension and the transfer of knowledge and cultural aspects from one person to the other and from one culture to the other.
