Environment assignment essay on: Population & climate change
Q. What are the adverse and the beneficial impacts of climate change on population as envisaged by the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)? How is climate change going to differently affect two population groups, one living in a poor, warm and low-lying country with high population density and another living in a rich, a high altitude and cold country?Ans. Some of the researches as well as studies have been used in order to understand the mechanism along with the complexities of the population. The entire research has been established in order to see the adverse & the beneficial impact of climate change on the population growth (Dalton, Jiang, Shonali, & O’Neill, 2007). The adverse as well as the beneficial impact has been discussed as under. The intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) has seen, strong evidence regarding the global warming affecting the human activities. Such type of changes would lead to a change within the environmental hazards affecting the human health (Clark & Deurloo, 2006). Some of the adverse effects which might be encountered by the increased population would be stress to the food production, ozone depletion, infectious diseases, hazards, bio-diversity, etc. Based upon World Health Organization (WHO) it has been seen that 160,000 deaths have taken place since 1950 due to the change in the climate. According to the Research at the Hoover Institution, it has been seen that global warming would lead to decrease within the rate of morality in US (Jiang & Hardee, 2011).Based upon the UK programs, it has been estimated that approximately 36% reduction within the carbon dioxide emissions would lead to benefits to the increased population. Health benefits could be seen with respect to the various improvements within the air quality (Woodward, 2005). This would take into consideration an overall exposure to the particles, poisoning of the carbon monoxide, etc. Some of the more benefits which would be seen with respect climatic change would be in regards to the replacement of the cook stoves which would be acted quite substantial (Bindoff, et al, 2007).Climate change has affected the population living in a poor, warm and low-lying country with high population density has been discussed as under. Main adverse effects have been seen in regards to the same. A report on global human impact was published in Global Humanitarian in the year 2009 (Kent & Haub, 2005). According to WHO it has been estimated that, approximately 99% of the causalities have risen in such places due to change in the climates.Climate change has affected the population living in a rich, a high altitude and cold country has been discussed as under. It has been seen that, the countries such as US, UK have varied effects over the change in the climates. The rich sectors are quite sensitive towards the change in the climate.
